The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes ascended to the No. 1 ranking Sunday in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Class AAAA football poll, but ScoreAtlanta left Cartersville at No. 2 in their Monday poll release.
Cartersville defeated North Cobb 34-31 last Friday and Buford suffered a 37-14 loss at McEachern. Buford’s loss snapped the Wolves’ 42-game winning streak.

North Cobb was unranked and remains winless on the season through three games. McEachern (2-0) is ranked in the top three of Class AAAAAA in most polls.
