Woodland basketball teams sweep Rockmart

WOODLAND GIRLS 48, ROCKMART 30

The Lady Wildcats added a non-region, home victory Tuesday afternoon over visiting Rockmart, 48-30.

Woodland led 8-4 after one quarter and held a 19-17 advantage at halftime. The Lady Wildcats then outscored the Lady Jackets 29-13 in the second half to pull away with the win.

Gabby Bradley led Woodland with 24 points. Erykah Pender scored nine, followed by Lyric Curtis with five and Madgie Robinson four. Jamison Kilgo, Hayley Roberson, and Meredith Bailey also added two points each.

Tova Kleinschmidt scored eight points to lead Rockmart. Clara Delgado scored seven, Madison Davis five and Kalisha Printup added four for the Jackets.

Woodland improved their season mark to 3-7. Rockmart slipped to 3-5 on the year.

Woodland plays at Adairsville Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 6pm and will host Model at 3pm January 2.

WOODLAND BOYS 58, ROCKMART 47

Camden Royal led Woodland with 17 points as the Wildcats gained a non-region win Tuesday evening over visiting Rockmart.

The Wildcats improved to 3-7 on the year with the win and Rockmart fell to a 2-6 mark.

“We shot well from the perimeter when they were in a zone and did a good job of attacking the basket when they switched to man,” said Woodland head coach John Howard.

Jordan Pritchett scored 10 points with a pair of steals for the Wildcats. Brady Jernigan added seven points and had a game-high nine rebounds.

“Defensively, we are still having some mental breakdowns. We need to continue to improve before the region tournament,” concluded Howard.
