Cass tennis teams split matches with Rome

The Cass High School tennis teams split Region 7AAAAA decisions with the Rome Wolves Monday.

The Colonels defeated Rome 4-1, but the Cass girls fell to the Lady Wolves 4-1.

“This was a big win for us today,” said Cass coach Kevin Cunningham. “It keeps us undefeated in the region and on track for securing a spot in the state playoffs. Seth Colton pulled out a win in a very tough match and our Line 1 doubles team also came up big.”

“Rome has a good team,” noted Cunningham referring to the Lady Wolves. “Losing this one hurts because of region seeding. We have a tough fight ahead of us to finish in the top five in the region. That is important because it gives us a good shot at going to the state playoffs. One win at the region tournament gets us into the state tournament, but right now we’re on the outside looking in.”
