The Cartersville girls and boys soccer teams both defeated Cedartown Friday night in Region 5AAAA games.
The Cass girls and boys teams were both turned back by Villa Rica by a single goal.
CARTERSVILLE BOYS 6, CEDARTOWN 3
James Chege scored two goals Friday night for Cartersville. Jonathan Cruz, Cesar Abeja, Pedro Robledo, and Jake Hacker added one goal each.
Cedartown falls to 7-2-1 overall and 3-2-1 in region play.
Cartersville (8-1, 4-0) has a non-region matches at Darlington Monday at 5:30pm and plays at region-rival LaGrange Tuesday at 8pm.
CARTERSVILLE GIRLS 9, CEDARTOWN 0
Chloe Davis scored four goals for Cartersville, including three in the first fifteen minutes of the game.
Claire Chaote assisted on the first two Davis goals and scored a goal herself later in the first half.
Micah Vance scored twice. Kaylyn Donegan and Kelly Betancourt scored a goal.
Caroline Bagwell had two assists. Kayla Carpenter and LaShun Williams added assists.
The Lady Canes improved to 7-4 on the season and 3-2 in Region 5AAAA with their shutout victory Friday night.
Cedartown falls to 1-10 overall and 0-6 in region play.
Cartersville is scheduled for a non-region game at Darlington Monday at 5:30pm and travels to region-foe LaGrange Tuesday at 6pm.
VILLA RICA BOYS 4, CASS 3
Villa Rica scored three times in the first half to take a 3-0 lead to the intermission, but Cass would challenge in the second half.
Anthony Robledo scored at the 32:34 mark and again with 18:31 remaining to narrow the Wildcats lead to 4-2. Villa Rica added their fourth goal between the two Robledo counters. Nelson Arroyo and Felipe Albarran had assists.
Brandon Romero scored for the Colonels on a penalty kick with 1:38 remaining.
Romero also recorded 18 saves in goal.
Villa Rica improved to 6-4-2 overall and is now 3-2 in region games.
Cass (2-9, 2-4 Region 7AAAAA) plays at Kell next Thursday at 8pm.
VILLA RICA GIRLS 3, CASS 2
The Lady Colonels led 2-1 late, but the Lady Wildcats scored twice in the final ten minutes to edge Cass.
Kelsey Rivera scored a pair of goals for Cass directly from corner kicks.
Villa Rica improved to 5-7 overall and 3-2 in Region 7AAAAA.
Cass is now 5-6 overall and 3-3 in region play.
The Lady Colonels host Paulding County Tuesday at 5:45pm.
