R.B. Clyburn of Cartersville shot rounds of 67-75 to finish third at the 105th Yamaha Atlanta Open Monday and Tuesday at Echelon Golf Club in Alpharetta. His 142 (2-under-par) total finished five shots back on the 7,067, par-72 course.
Clyburn held the first round lead but slipped to third on the final day behind 2022 champion Ted Moon of TPC At Sugarloaf and fellow amateur Brock Hoover. Moon fired a 66 Tuesday to finish 7-under-par. Hoover shot a pair of 70s to finish 4-under-par.
The tournament field included 156 professionals and amateurs.
Chad Branton of Cartersville and Kyle Hosick of Calhoun advanced to the match play portion of the 2022 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship played at Country Club of Birmingham.
The duo shot rounds of 65 and 68 in the stroke play portion of the tournament Saturday and Sunday to earn a spot in a 10-team playoff for the final nine spots in match play.
A par on the first playoff hole earned Branton/Hosick the 32nd seed in match play that began Monday.
The locals fell 4 and 2 in the Round of 32 to top seeds Torey Edwards and Bret Parker of Long Beach, California and Alpine, Utah.
