Cartersville’s pitching kept them in the game with Lambert Wednesday night at LakePoint, but the offense failed to produce a run as the Longhorns shutout the Canes 3-0.
Elliott Anderson pitched three scoreless innings as the starter for Cartersville and struck out seven. Zach Yancey, Jacob Fowler, and Anthony Seigler also pitched for the Canes.
Josh McAllister’s two-run triple in the fifth put the Longhorns on the board. Lambert took advantage of a pair of earlier walks in the inning.
The game’s final run for Lambert scored on a throwing error during an attempted pick off play of a Longhorn runner at second base.
Cartersville threatened with a pair of baserunners in the seventh, but was unable to push across a run.
Cartersville finished with three hits in the game. Anderson, Parker Tidwell, and Noah Daniel had the Canes' hits
The Canes (0-1) host Johns Creek Saturday.
