The 31-year-old outside linebacker lands with the Texas team after pro stops with the Falcons, Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, and Vegas Vipers of the XFL. Former Hurricane Buck Brumlow helped lead the Georgia Bulldogs to a tournament championship in college golf and coming up this weekend, three former Cartersville High baseball standouts open the 2024 MiLB season with their respective clubs. NBA ASHTON HAGANS — Portland Trailblazers — (4th yr. pro; Cartersville native; Kentucky; Newton HS) … saw 16 minutes of court time and scored 10 points with three assists and two rebounds last Wednesday during a 120-106 loss at the Atlanta Hawks. Last Monday, he saw 23 minutes on the floor and scored eight points with four rebounds and three assists. Portland (19-55) plays at Charlotte on Wednesday, at Washington on Friday, and at Boston on Sunday night. BASKETBALL SUPER LEAGUE A.J. MOSBY, JR. — Sudbury Five (6th-yr. pro; Alcorn State; Cartersville HS) … in a 136-126 home win over the Lebanon Leprechauns, Mosby scored 33 points with seven assists and seven rebounds. The Five (13-10) host the Newfoundland Rogues on Saturday afternoon and the Glass City Wranglers on Sunday. MiLB MASON BARNETT — Northwest Arkansas Naturals (3rd-yr. pro; Auburn; Cartersville HS) … was the starting pitcher for the Kansas City Royals’ affiliates in the inaugural Spring Training Breakout games. The Royals' prospects defeated the Milwaukee Brewers’ prospects 4-3. Barnett pitched 1-⅔ innings and allowed two runs (only one earned) on two hits and three walks. The Double-A Naturals begin their regular season schedule this weekend with a home series against the Tulsa Drillers. LOGAN MARTIN — Columbia Fireflies (2nd-yr. pro; Kentucky; Cartersville HS) … Columbia, a Class A affiliate in the Carolina League, opens the 2024 season this weekend with a series at the Augusta Greenjackets. ANTHONY SEIGLER — Somerset Patriots (7th-yr. pro; Cartersville HS) … the Double-A Patriots will open the 2024 schedule at home this weekend in a series against the Richmond Flying Squirrels. TENNIS EMILY SURCEY — Samford University (Jr., Cass HS) … in a 5-2 team victory last Friday over visiting Western Carolina University, Surcey, and doubles partner Grace Keller, lost their Line 2 set 4-6 and Surcey lost her Line 2 singles match, 4-6, 4-6. Samford (6-10) hosts Chattanooga on Thursday and plays at East Tennessee State on Sunday. TRACK AND FIELD ERIC TOVIAVE — Belmont University (So., Cartersville HS) … finished 28th (56.751) in the 400-meter hurdles last weekend at the 96th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. The Bruins run Friday and Saturday at the Ole Miss Joe Walker Invitational. GOLF BUCK BRUMLOW — University of Georgia (Jr., Cartersville HS) … shot an even-par 210 total and tied for 11th overall helping the Bulldogs to a team title at The Goodwin hosted at San Francisco’s TPC Harding Park. The tournament was last Thursday through Saturday. 22nd-ranked UGA edged Utah by one shot to win the tournament. 44th-ranked Stanford finished third followed by 8th-ranked Tennessee and 15th-ranked Georgia Tech in the 10-team field. Brumlow carded rounds of 69-73-68 on the par-70, 7,193-yard TPC Harding Park course. Georgia will close out the regular season in Naples, Florida at the Calusa Cup hosted by Iowa on April 7-9. SOFTBALL LAINEY BAKER — Union University (So., Woodland HS) … tossed a completed game, one-hit shutout last Wednesday in a Bulldogs’ 3-0 win at Henderson State (Ark.). Baker fanned seven and improved to 8-5 in the circle this season with a 2.07 ERA. Union (22-14, 11-7 Gulf South Conference) visits the University of West Florida for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday. HAYLEE DISHMON — Georgia Highlands College (Fr., Cass HS) … in four games last week, Dishmon was 5-for-12 at the plate with a walk and two RBIs. She also stole five bases as the Lady Chargers won twice at ABAC and lost twice at Gordon State College. GHC (9-22, 6-6 GCAA) hosts Georgia Military College for a doubleheader on Saturday. ANSLEY EVANS — Reinhardt University (Jr., Woodland HS) … was 0-for-4 at the plate with two walks and one RBI last Wednesday as the Eagles split a doubleheader at Georgia Gwinnett College. Reinhardt (21-7, 10-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference) hosts a doubleheader with Truett-McConnell University on Wednesday, Columbia International University on Friday, and the University of Pikeville (Ky.) on Saturday. MEGAN GREGORY — Campbell University (Fr., Adairsville HS) … was tagged with the pitching loss last Saturday in a 5-4 home loss to Monmouth University. Gregory started in the circle and allowed three earned runs (five total) on five hits and two walks in three innings. The Camels went 4-1 for the week with two wins over North Carolina Central and two over Monmouth. DREW ROTHSCHILD — Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (So., Cartersville HS) … in four games last week against Andrew College, he hit safely in each game and was 7-for-16 with a walk, one double, and seven RBIs. The Stallions (12-18, 4-4 GCAA) play at South Georgia State on Tuesday night and will host games with the Hawks on Thursday and Saturday. TREY SCOTT — Alabama A&M University (Jr., Cass HS) … made pitching appearances last week at UAB on Tuesday and at Bethune-Cookman on Saturday. Tuesday was a no-decision and he was saddled with the pitching loss on Saturday. In the two games, Scott worked 3-⅔ innings and allowed five earned runs on seven hits and eight walks. He struck out two. The Bulldogs (3-23, 1-8 SWAC) visit North Alabama on Wednesday and will host Mississippi Valley State for a three-game conference series on Friday through Sunday. HANK SMITH — Jacksonville State University (R-Fr., Cartersville HS) … made a defensive appearance at catcher last Tuesday in a 13-3 loss at Auburn. The Gamecocks (9-18, 0-6 Conference USA) host Troy University on Wednesday and Florida International on Friday through Sunday for a three-game conference series. SCOTTY SMITH — Covenant College (Jr., Woodland HS) … made pitching starts last Monday and Saturday with a loss at Huntingdon College and a no-decision at home against LaGrange in an eventual win. Smith went six innings in each start allowing 11 earned runs on 16 hits and six walks. He struck out six and hit one batter. The Scots (10-15, 3-3 Collegiate Conference of the South) host Berry College on Tuesday and a three-game conference series with Belhaven University (Miss.) on Friday and Saturday. STEVEN SPELL — Young Harris College (Grad student, Cass HS) … went 4-for-17 with three walks, one hit by pitch, four runs scored, one sac fly, and two RBIs as the Mountain Lions finished a 1-4 week. The lone win was at Francis Marion last Monday. They also lost at home against Mars Hill and had three losses at North Greenville. YHC (25-9, 12-6 Carolinas Conference), ranked No. 9, visits Tusculum University on Wednesday before hosting a three-game conference series with King University (Tenn.) on Saturday and Sunday. PRESTON WELCHEL — Cumberland University (Jr., Cartersville HS) … in three losses at 3rd-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College last Friday and Saturday, Welchel was 4-for-11 with two walks, two runs scored, and two RBIs. The Phoenix (17-16, 2-3 Mid-South Conference) has a doubleheader at 21st-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday and hosts a three-game conference series on Friday and Saturday with 22nd-ranked Freed-Hardeman University. COHEN WILBANKS — Georgia Gwinnett College (Jr., Cartersville HS) … made three starts last week and went 3-for-9 at the plate with two walks, one run scored, and two RBIs as the 3rd-ranked Grizzlies beat Tennessee Wesleyan on Monday and Cumberland (Tenn.) on Friday and Saturday. GGC (30-5, 5-0 Continental Athletic Conference) visits Bryan College (Tenn.) for a doubleheader on Friday. JORDAN WILKIE — Augusta University (Sr., Cartersville HS) … came off the bench in two games last week — home wins over USC Aiken and Columbus State — and went 0-for-2 with one walk at the plate.     March 30, 2024 The Adairsville tennis teams finished their regular season schedules Friday night at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe with region wins. The Tigers defeated the Warriors 5-0 and the Lady Tigers won a 4-1 decision. ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 5, LFO 0 Singles Line 1-----Braden Potter won 6-0, 6-0 Line 2-----Michael Spinks won 6-3, 6-0 Line 3-----RJ Bowling won 6-0, 6-0 Doubles Line 1-----Braden Mathis/ Jack Baxter won 6-0, 6-0 Line 2-----Camden Teems/ Carter Collum won 6-1, 6-0 ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 4, LFO 1 Singles Line 1-----Ella Baker lost 3-6, 2-6 Line 2-----Adysen Garvey won 6-2, 6-3 Line 3-----Caroline O'Kelley Won 7-6, 6-2 Doubles Line 1-----Darby Adams/ Madison Abernathy won 6-0, 6-0 Line 2-----Stella Rood/ Allison Potter won 6-0, 6-1 The Adairsville teams, both 4-3 in region play, will play in the Region 6-AAA tournament on April 9-10 at Lakeshore Tennis Center in Dalton.   • Chargers win Saturday doubleheader to split series with East Georgia

    March 30, 2024 After losing the first two games in their home-and-home conference series with East Georgia College, the Georgia Highlands Chargers won both games of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon to earn a series split. Georgia Highlands won 16-6 and 10-7. Trip Dovale picked up the pitching win in the opening game. H allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out six. Brodie Chestnutt worked a three-up, three-down seventh inning to close out the game. In the second game, four Chargers toed the rubber. Chandler Anderson (5 IP, 5ER, 9H, 0BB, 5K) made the start. Reece Robertson (0.2 IP, 2ER, 0H, 3BB), Hunter Ward (0.1 IP, 3BF), and Andrew Arnold (1 IP, 0R, 1H, 1K) pitched in relief. Luke Orfi paced the Charger offense with six hits in the doubleheader including a homer, one double, and four RBIs. Grayson Godbee (HR, two RBIs), Ryan Wideman (HR, three RBIs), Will Cawthon (three RBIs), Barrett Eldridge (HR, five RBIs), and Gray Wilson (double, two RBIs) produced three hits. Ali Banks (double, RBI) produced two hits. Ryan Martin (HR, three RBIs) and Davis Newman (sac fly, RBI) added one hit for the day. East Georgia slipped to 24-14 overall and 2-6 in conference play with the two losses. Georgia Highlands (33-5, 5-3 GCAA) has four conference games next week with conference-leading Gordon State College. The Chargers host on Tuesday at 2 p.m. and will play a single game in Barnesville on Thursday and a doubleheader at the Highlanders home field on Saturday.

  • GHC drops second straight to East Georgia College

    March 29, 2024 Georgia Highlands baseball dropped a second straight conference game to East Georgia College Friday night, falling 8-4. The Bobcats scored six runs in their first three frames and never trailed as they outhit the Chargers sixteen to eleven. The losing pitcher was Michael Sharman (6 IP, 7R, 5ER, 13H, 2BB, 3K). Kyle Stephenson (1 IP, 0R, 1H, 2BB, 1K) and Declan Dun (1 IP, 1ER, 2H, 1K) pitched in relief for GHC. Every player in the Chargers’ lineup had at least one hit led by Luke Orfi and Grayson Godbee with two hits. Will Cawthon (two RBIs), Davis Newman (RBI), Barrett Eldridge (RBI), Ryan Wideman, Gray Wilson, Ali Banks, and Trevor Lovett added one hit. The Chargers (31-5, 3-3) will look to split the series on Saturday in a doubleheader at Swainsboro.

  • Top-ranked Hurricanes complete series sweep of the Catamounts

    March 29, 2024 Cartersville swept a Region 7-5A doubleheader with Dalton Friday night at Richard Bell Field. The two wins also completed a three-game series sweep for the No. 1 ranked Hurricanes. Cartersville won 3-0 and 7-1 Friday night. Sawyer Wilson (6 IP, 0R, 3H, 0BB, 7K) picked up the pitching win in Game 1 with Andrew Purdy fanning all three batters he faced in the final inning to earn a save. Three Cartersville pitchers limited the Catamounts to one run on three hits in Game 2. Nate Russell (3 IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB, 1K) made the start and collected the win. Logan Shrewsbury (3 IP, 1ER, 2H, 1BB, 4K) and Nicholas Hruby (1 IP, 0R, 1H, 1BB, 2K) pitched for the Canes in relief. Cartersville totaled 13 hits in the doubleheader. Aidan Larkin led the Purple Hurricanes’ offense with three hits including a homer, one double, and two RBIs. Luke Miller (double), Purdy (triple, double, two RBIs), and Landon Cole (double, 2 sac flies, three RBIs) contributed two hits. Cameron Cochran, Tristan McKibben, Cole Crawford, and Caleb Daniel added one hit. Dalton falls to 5-13 overall and 1-8 in region games. Cartersville (17-3, 9-0 Region 7-5A) faces McIntosh (1 p.m.) and Houston County (7 p.m.) on Thursday in the Battle for Bartow at LakePoint. ADAIRSVILLE 6, LAFAYETTE 2 Adairsville pitcher Jack Nelson struck out eleven and limited LaFayette to just one earned run on four hits and two walks Friday as the Tigers beat the Ramblers, 6-2. PJ Weeks had two hits with two RBIs for the Adairsville offense. Hudson Parr (RBI), Hayden Blalock, Braxton Ryan, and Peyton Bowen added one hit for the Tigers. The loss dropped LaFayette to 8-11 overall and 1-4 in region play. Adairsville (11-5, 3-2), ranked 10th in Class 3A hosts 7th-ranked Ringgold on Tuesday. McEACHERN 7, WOODLAND 6 The Woodland Wildcats led 6-2 in the middle of the fifth inning Friday night at McEachern but the host Indians scored five runs over their last two frames to pull out a 7-6 win. Woodland posted their six runs on just four hits but took advantage of nine walks. McEachern totaled seven hits. J.D. Trail (0.2 IP, 2R, 1ER, 2H, 1K) was tagged with the Wildcats’ pitching loss in relief of starter Austin Daves (4.2 IP, 5R, 3ER, 5H, 6BB, 4K) who worked into the fifth inning. Lucas Baker (0.2 IP) retired the two batters he faced in the sixth inning. Ayden Ray had one hit and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Jake Clowers, Mason Williams, and Jonathan Ryan added one hit. McEachern improved to 9-6. Woodland (10-8, 2-4) will play Alexander (1 p.m.) and Cedartown (7 p.m.) on Thursday in the Battle for Bartow Tournament at LakePoint. CALHOUN 12, CASS 4 Calhoun won the rubber game of their Region 7-5A series with Cass Friday night on the Colonels’ home field, 12-4. The Yellow Jackets (6-12, 2-4) won the three-game series two games to one with the road team winning each game. Cass led 4-2 after one inning and 4-3 heading to the fifth inning.  In the top of the fifth, Calhoun took advantage of two walks, a hit batsman, and two errors with two hits and a home run to score eight runs. Chase Tatum (1 IP, 8R, 3H, 2BB, 1K) was saddled with the pitching loss in relief of starter Cayden Roberts (4 IP, 4R, 1ER, 5H, 2BB, 3K). Devan Hutchinson (1 IP, 1R, 0ER, 1H, 1K) and Jake Johnson (1 IP, 2K) also pitched for the Colonels. Hutchinson (RBI), Caleb Freeman (RBI), Hunter Lovett, and Jesiel Moctezuma (double) had one hit for Cass. Connor Jenkins and Trenton Payne added one RBI. Cass (12-8, 4-2) will play at Athens Academy on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The Colonels will also play a doubleheader on Thursday at Oconee County beginning at noon.

  • Cass boys win Region 7-5A championship

    March 29, 2024 The Cass boys’ soccer team clinched the Region 7-5A championship and a No. 1 seed in the GHSA state playoffs Thursday night with a 4-2 victory at Calhoun. Edgar Abeja put the Colonels on the scoreboard unassisted five minutes into the match. Melvin Velasquez scored from a Camden Hillhouse helper five minutes later for a 2-0 Cass lead. Velasquez scored again unassisted in the 15th minute and the Colonels quickly held a 3-0 lead. Calhoun scored late in the first half to make the score 3-1 at the intermission. The Colonels’ two-goal advantage held until the 76th minute when Velasquez completed his hat trick with a goal that made the score 4-1. The Yellow Jackets made it 4-2 just 45 seconds later but the scoring would end there. Calhoun slipped to 9-5-2 overall and 3-2 in region play. The Yellow Jackets will be a 3-seed in the state playoffs that begin April 17. Cass (11-2-1, 5-0), ranked 4th in Class 5A, will be a No. 1 seed and host the No. 4 seed from Region 6-5A on April 17 in the opening round. After Spring Break, the Colonels will play at South Paulding on April 9 and host Sequoyah on April 11 in non-region matches. CALHOUN 4, CASS GIRLS 0 The hosting Lady Jackets broke open a tight contest in the second half to beat the Cass girls, 4-0. Calhoun (7-6, 2-3) led 1-0 at halftime. Cass (3-9, 0-5) plays at South Paulding on April 9. WOODLAND BOYS 1, HIRAM 0 The Wildcats qualified for the GHSA Class 5A state playoffs on Thursday night with a 1-0 region win at Hiram. The Woodland victory secured the No. 4 seed from Region 7-5A. Following a scoreless first half, Chris Sanchez scored the only goal of the night off an assist from David Hernandez in the 67th minute. Woodland keeper Miguel Pineda had four saves to aid his defense in the shutout. Hiram falls to 2-14-2 on the season and 0-5 in Region 7-5A. Woodland (9-4, 2-3) has non-region regular season matches at North Paulding (5:30 p.m.) on April 11 and will host Bremen (7:30 p.m.) on April 12. WOODLAND GIRLS 6, HIRAM 0 Three Lady Cats scored two goals each on Thursday night as the Woodland girls’ soccer team won at Hiram, 6-0. Reagan Weightman, who finished the night with two goals and two assists, was first on the scoring sheet with a goal in the 14th minute. Carlie Forman assisted on the opening goal. Seven minutes later, Ansley Burns made the score 2-0 off an assist from Reagan Weightman. Up 2-0 at the intermission, Woodland scored four times in the second half to put the match away. Libby Morgan scored in the 47th minute off a helper from Allie York. Burns got her second goal in the 49th minute off another feed from York. Maddie Weightman assisted Reagan Weightman’s second goal in the 53rd minute and Morgan’s second goal was from a Reagan Weightman feed in the 59th minute. The loss dropped Hiram to 3-12 on the season and 1-4 in region play. Woodland (9-2, 3-2) secured a No. 3 seed in the Class 5A state playoffs that begin April 16. The Lady Cats will play a road match at the No. 2 seed from Region 6-5A in the first round of the state playoffs.   • Colonels even series with Calhoun; Adairsville pounds Ramblers

    March 29, 2024 Cass evened its Region 7-5A series with Calhoun on Thursday night by winning on the Yellow Jackets’ home field, 14-4, in six innings. The Colonels posted three runs in the top of the first inning including a Chase Tatum home run. The score remained 3-0 until Cass added two more runs in the top of the fourth to go up 5-0. In the top of the fifth inning, the Colonels produced four consecutive hits, took advantage of a Yellow Jackets’ error, and Connor Jenkins hit a two-run home run to put Cass up 10-0. Calhoun got on the scoreboard with a run in the bottom of the inning but the Colonels answered with four more runs in the top of the sixth — including Nic Wright’s three-run home run — to lead 14-1. Calhoun plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth but failed to extend the game to a seventh inning. Trenton Payne collected the pitching win for the Colonels allowing just one run on one hit and four walks. He struck out nine in five innings on the bump. Justin Peace (1 IP, 3ER, 2H) pitched in the sixth inning. Four Colonels finished with two hits. Adairsville led 2-1 after one inning; 6-1 after two innings; and added five runs in the bottom of the sixth to close out the game by mercy run rule. McCayden Hufstetler picked up the pitching win for the Tigers by tossing a six-inning, three-hitter. He walked three and fanned four. Braxton Ryan had three hits with a double and two RBIs to pace the Adairsville attack. Peyton Bowen (double, RBI) and Easton Elrod contributed two hits. Hayden Blalock (two RBIs), Jarrett Scott (two RBIs), Jack Nelson (RBI), and Lucas Henry (RBI) added one hit. PJ Weeks was credited with one RBI.   • Cartersville soccer teams suffer losses

    March 28, 2024 The Cartersville High girls' soccer team lost their Region 7-5A showdown with Dalton on Tuesday night and will finish as a region runner-up. The No. 2 seed position for the Lady Canes ensures a home, first-round state playoff game when the Class 5A state playoffs begin in mid-April. Dalton, who beat Cartersville 4-0, finished 5-0 in region games and will be the region’s No. 1 seed. The Lady Cats improved to 7-4-2 on Tuesday. The Dalton boys defeated Cartersville 9-0 on Tuesday to finish region play with a 4-1 record. The 3rd-ranked Catamounts (11-3-1 overall) led 3-0 at the intermission and added six more goals in the second half. Dalton will either finish second or in a three-way tie for first pending the outcome of the Cass (10-2-1, 4-0) at Calhoun (9-4-2, 3-1) match on Thursday. The Cartersville boys also dropped a non-region home match with Cedartown on Wednesday, 3-1. The Cartersville boys (3-12) play another non-region match at Sandy Creek on Thursday. The Canes also have non-region regular season matches after Spring Break at home against Ringgold (April 9) and at Rome (April 11). The Cartersville girls (8-6, 4-1) have a non-region regular season match at home on April 9 against Ringgold.

    March 27, 2024 Three Canes homered and Ryan Johnson struck out seven in a five-inning, one-hitter Wednesday as No. 1-ranked Cartersville won at Dalton, 10-0. Cameron Cochran, Aidan Larkin, and Luke Miller hit home runs for the Hurricanes who pounded out 14 total hits against the Catamounts. Caleb Daniel had three hits including a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Miller (two RBIs), Larkin (two RBIs), Cochran (four RBIs), Charlie Rothschild, and Nolan Elrod contributed two hits. Landon Cole added one hit. Cartersville (15-3, 7-0) and Dalton (5-11, 1-6) will continue their Region 7-5A series on Friday at Richard Bell Field with a doubleheader at 5 p.m. WOODLAND 8, MODEL 3 A five-run third inning jump-started Woodland on Wednesday night launching the Wildcats to a non-region 8-3 home win over the Model Blue Devils. Model led 2-1 in the middle of the second inning when the Wildcats posted their big inning with  two walks, two singles, and two doubles. Woodland added on insurance runs in the fourth and fifth innings as they outhit the Blue Devils ten to seven and took advantage of seven walks and four hit batsmen. Logan Bentley (double, sac fly, RBI) and Ayden Ray (double, RBI) led the Wildcats with three hits. Joshua Hicks contributed two hits (double, two RBIs). Mason Williams and Conner Lujan added one hit. Jake Clowers had one RBI. Zach Lambert (6 IP, 3R, 2ER, 7H, 1BB, 3K) collected the Woodland pitching win. Ray walked one and struck out one in the seventh inning. The loss dropped Model to 12-5 on the season. Woodland (10-7, 2-4) plays another non-region game at McEachern on Friday at 5:55 p.m. CALHOUN 9, CASS 5 The Cass Colonels dropped their Region 7-5A opener with Calhoun on Wednesday 9-5 at the Cass Athletic Complex. The Colonels led 5-1 after the first two innings but saw that lead slip away when the Yellow Jackets scored five times in the fourth inning. Calhoun added two more insurance runs in the sixth to secure their 9-5 win. Calhoun outhit Cass, eleven to eight. Hunter Lovett (4 IP, 7R, 6ER, 9H, 1BB, 4K) was saddled with the pitching loss for the Colonels. Jacob Johnson (2 IP, 2ER, 2H, 3BB) and Justin Peace (1 IP, 3BF) also pitched for Cass. Chase Tatum had three hits including one double and one RBI. Lovett (double, RBI) contributed two hits. Connor Jenkins (double, two RBIs), Nic Wright, and Jesiel Moctezuma added one hit. Cass (11-7, 3-1) and Calhoun (5-11, 1-3) continue their series Thursday at Calhoun at 5:55 p.m. and will wrap it up on Friday at Cass at 5:55 p.m. GORDON LEE 14, ADAIRSVILLE 1 The visiting Gordon Lee Trojans broke open a 1-1 game with seven runs in the top of the third inning Wednesday night at Adairsville en route to a 14-1 Region 6-AAA victory over the Tigers. Gordon Lee added six more runs in the fourth inning in their five-inning win. Dawson Craig (2.1 IP, 6R, 5ER, 3H, 5BB, 2K) made the pitching start for Adairsville and suffered the loss on the mound. K Coker (1.1 IP, 4ER, 3H, 1BB, 2K), Hudson Parr (0.1 IP, 4R, 0ER, 2H, 3BB), and Braxton Ryan (1 IP, 1K) also pitched for the Tigers. Ryan had two hits including a double for the Adairsville offense. Peyton Bowen and Ryan Farr added one hit. Parr contributed one RBI. Gordon Lee improved to 10-8 on the season and 4-0 in region play. Adairsville (9-5, 2-2) hosts a home-and-home region series with LaFayette on Thursday and Friday. The Tigers host on Thursday and the Ramblers host on Friday. Both dates are 5:55 p.m. starts.
