Updated local high school football rankings and standings


There were very few changes this week in the statewide rankings involving teams from the local high school football regions. Standings provided by Georgia High School Association and rankings by Georgia High School Football Daily and Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

 

Region 7-AAAAA


Rome remains the No. 1 ranked team in all of Class AAAAA following a 62-0 rout of Paulding County last week. The defending state champions led 49-0 at halftime. Quarterback Knox Kadum was 7-for-7 passing for 149 yards and a pair of scores. The Wolves host 4th-ranked Carrollton Friday night.


Carrollton (4-0) defeated Woodland last week 41-6. Trojans’ quarterback Mark Wright threw for 169 yards and one touchdown. Kodee Brewer rushed for 64 yards and two scores on nine carries.


Kell moved up one notch in the Class AAAAA rankings to No. 8 following their 28-10 win over Cass. Josiah Futral rushed for 129 yards and Dre Houston ran for another 95.


The remainder of the top ten in Class AAAAA includes: No. 2 Buford, No. 3 Stockbridge, No. 5 Warner Robins, No. 6 Jones County, No. 7 Starr’s Mill, No. 9 Wayne County, and No. 10 Bainbridge.




Region 5-AAAA


Cartersville continues its streak as the No. 1 team in Class AAAA following a 41-7 homecoming victory over Cedartown. The Canes led 38-0 at the intermission and scored on all six first-half possessions. Trevor Lawrence was 15-for-20 passing for 327 yards and three touchdowns. JKobe Orr had 100 yards in receptions.


Sandy Creek remains 8th-ranked in Class AAAAA following an idle week on the schedule. The Patriots play undefeated and 10th-ranked Troup County this Friday night.


Troup (5-0) defeated Chapel Hill 48-12 last week. Montez Crowe threw for 364 yards and five touchdowns. Jamari Thrash had four of those catches for 146 yards and a pair of scores.


Cedartown, who was ranked 10th in Class AAAA, fell out of the rankings this week.


The remainder of the Class AAAA top ten includes: No. 2 Thomson, No. 3 Marist, No. 4 Blessed Trinity, No. 5 Jefferson, No. 6 Ridgeland, No. 7 Burke County, and No. 9 Woodward Academy.




Region 6-AAA


Calhoun comes in again this week as the No. 5 team in Class AAA. The Yellow Jackets defeated North Murray 40-13. Zack Fuller rushed for over 200 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Gavin Gray threw for 262 yards.


Bremen remains ranked No. 7 this week following the Blue Devils’ 51-0 blanking of Coahulla Creek. Bremen allowed only nine yards of total offense in the shutout. Twins Tyran and Tyric Dobbs rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns on a mere six carries. Quarterback Wade Cartwright connected on 3-of-4 passes for 98 yards and a pair of scores. Jalen Dallas caught both touchdown passes.


The remainder of the Class AAA top ten includes: No. 1 Cedar Grove, No. 2 Peach County, No. 3 Greater Atlanta Christian, No. 4 Crisp County, No. 6 Jenkins, No. 8 Monroe Area, No. 9 Lovett, and No. 10 Pace Academy.
