Cass teams win region games at East Paulding

The Cass Lady Colonels routed East Paulding Wednesday night in Dallas, 89-49.


Cass led 20-13 after one quarter, 45-22 at the intermission, and 70-42 through three periods.


Payton Stoddard led thirteen Lady Colonels in the scoring column with 15 points. Lyric Curtis also reached double figures with 11.



Alexis Ware totaled nine points, followed by seven each from Kyler Trouten and Ariana Hames. Kyla Michienzi, Sharia Wade, Amber Brittian, and Brianna Stephenson scored six points each. Damia Simpson posted four points. Aaliyah Curtis and Londaisha Smith added two points apiece.


Kimberlyn Black and Alex Boydstone led East Paulding with 15 and 13 points, respectively.


The Lady Raiders are now 1-4 overall and 0-3 in Region 7-AAAAA.


Cass (3-1, 2-1) opens play in the Central-Carroll Christmas Tournament Thursday at 4 p.m. against Mt. Zion-Carroll. The tournament continues with games on Friday and Saturday.




CASS BOYS 69, EAST PAULDING 55


The Colonels broke open a tight game Wednesday night in the fourth quarter by outscoring the host Raiders 21-6 in the final eight minutes on their way to a 69-55 victory at East Paulding.


Cass utilized a balanced scoring attack with four players reaching double figures.


Justice Hayes led the Colonels with 16 points. He was followed by Carter Hedden with 14, Mark Chester with 13, and Ashton Burley with 12 points. Steven Spell added six points. Markeldrick Powell and Ethan Carter scored five and three points, respectively.


East Paulding led 19-17 after one period and held a 34-33 advantage at halftime. The Raiders also carried a 49-48 edge into the fourth quarter before the Colonels rallied.


Azer Tidor led East Paulding with 17 points. Silas Johson scored 15 and Dominic Burnam 10 for the Raiders (1-4, 0-3 Region 7-AAAAA)


Cass (4-2, 2-1) plays Saturday at the Champions Center in the LakePoint Classic at 3 p.m. The Colonels will face Lithia Springs in the first of four boys games.


The LakePoint Classic will also include Lassiter vs. North Paulding at 4:30 p.m., North Cobb Christian vs. Paulding County at 6 p.m., and McCallie (TN) vs. Allatoona at 7:30 p.m.
