Bartow 8U boys reach District 5 finals, Bartow 14U boys advance to semis
The Bartow County 8U boys basketball all-star team edged Paulding County 22-20 Monday night in the GRPA District 5 semifinals behind nine points from C.J. McClendon and four each by Kaiden Kent and K.J. Smith.
Bartow will now face Rome/Floyd County for the District 5 championship Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Houston Suggs Youth Facility at Hamilton Crossing Park. Rome/Floyd defeated Cobb County-Powder Springs in Monday’s other semifinal.
In other action, the Bartow County 14U boys defeated Paulding County to advance to Tuesday’s GRPA District 5 semifinals against Cobb County at LakePoint in Emerson.
The Cartersville 12U boys all-stars lost their District 5 semifinal game Monday night to Paulding County, 61-56, in Dalton. Paulding advances to play Cobb County-Powder Springs Wednesday night for the district title.
Also Tuesday night, the Bartow County 10U boys are in action at Hamilton Crossing Park, the Bartow County 8U and 10U girls start District 5 tournament play in Dalton, and the Cartersville and Bartow County 17U boys teams start their tournament at LakePoint.
