WOODLAND BOYS 2ND, GIRLS 3RD AT REGION 7-5A

The Woodland boys tennis team lost in the Region 7-AAAAA finals Wednesday in Rome, 3-0. That will leave the Wildcats as the No. 2 seed from the region in the Class 5A state playoffs, but it will make Woodland an opening round host.

The Woodland girls won the third-place match at the Region 7-AAAAA tournament, winning 3-0 over Rome. All three singles lines were winners for the Lady Cats with Christy Turner, Gloria Gore, and Deanna Dodson each picking up wins.

The Wildcats will host the No. 3 seed from Region 8-AAAAA in the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs. GHSA requires opening round matches to be completed by Friday, April 20.

As a three-seed, the Lady Cats will play a road match in the first round at the Region 8-AAAAA runner-up.
