Adairsville, Cass, and Woodland split matches Tuesday; Cartersville drops non-region match at Northw


Woodland split matches with Carrollton and Hiram Tuesday night in contests played at Villa Rica High School. The Lady Cats dropped their opener to Carrollton 25-17 and 25-14, but bounced back to defeat Hiram in three sets 15-25, 25-16, and 16-14. Sydney Molinaro had six digs, four assists, three kills, two blocks, and one ace in the Carrollton match. Emily Cigainero contributed three kills, five digs, and one ace, while Lauren Morris added four aces, four assists, and a kill in the loss to the Trojans. In the victory over Hiram, Grace Webb totaled four digs, five kills, and two blocks. Morris added seven assists, five digs, three kills, and three aces, while Caroline Gore finished with four kills, two aces, and two digs.


Woodland hosts Cass and Gordon Central Thursday at 5 p.m. to wrap up the regular season.




ADAIRSVILLE SPLITS WITH SONORAVILLE, NORTH MURRAY


Adairsville split a pair of home matches Tuesday night losing to Sonoraville 25-18 and 25-11, but defeating North Murray 25-23 and 25-16.


Autumn Henderson had six blocks and Maddie Reitz added five. Katlyn Burnett had four service aces against the Mountaineers.




CANES DROP FOUR-SETTER AT NORTHWEST WHITFIELD


Cartersville fell in a non-region match at Northwest Whitfield Tuesday night 3-1 in a best-of-five sets contest. The host Bruins took the first two sets 25-14 and 25-19. Cartersville won the third set 25-20 and Northwest Whitfield closed out the match with a 25-17 win in the fourth set.


Cartersville (17-12) travels to Chapel Hill next Tuesday to face LaGrange in the Region 5-AAAA tournament.




CASS GOES 1-1 HOSTING NON-REGION MATCHES


Cass split home matches Tuesday night with Haralson County and Murray County. The Colonels defeated Haralson 25-16 and 29-27, but lost a three set contest with Murray County. Cass won the opening set 25-16, but the Indians narrowly won the final two sets 25-20 and 15-13.


Cass travels across town Thursday to play at Woodland and will also face Gordon Central.
