Adairsville falls to Callaway

Adairsville's Sean McDermott tossed a shutout in Game 1, but Callaway rallied in Games 2 and 3 for a pair of wins to eliminate the Tigers in the opening round of the 2015 GHSA Class AAA state baseball playoffs.

Callaway won 4-0 and 10-1 to take the best-of-three series.

In the Game 1 victory, McDermott allowed only three hits. The Tigers were led offensively by Reece Spencer and Verta Collum. They went 2-for-3 each. Lane Griffith and Jacob Smith also had hits.

Adairsville was shutout in Game 2, but Landon Howren led the Tigers with a pair of hits. Sam Seaman, Hayden Morrow, and Spencer each added hits.

The Tigers took an early lead in Game 3, but Callaway’s offense proved too much for coach Billy Roper’s Adairsville club.

Callaway advanced to meet Decatur in the round of sixteen May 6 and 7. Adairsville finished their season 13-12-1.
