The 25-year-old recorded a two-inning save on June 9 in a home win over the Milwaukee Brewers. He followed up with a 1-2/3 innings appearance across the seventh and eighth innings as the A’s beat the visiting Colorado Rockies 6-4 last Friday. Since returning to the MLB club, Barnett has allowed no runs and only two hits, with two walks and 12 strikeouts. The Athletics began this week with a 35-36 record and in second place, one game behind Seattle in the American League West. They have a seven-game homestand this week with the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Los Angeles Angels. LOGAN MARTIN — Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants Double-A affiliate; 4th-year pro; Kentucky; Cartersville HS) … the 24-year-old was placed on the 7-day injured list for Richmond on May 30 and has not pitched since May 29. It is his third trip to the injured list for this season. He has made nine appearances for the Squirrels in 2026. Richmond started this week with a 41-21 record, leading the Eastern League Southwest Division by nine games. The Squirrels have a six-game series at the Chesapeake BaySox from Tuesday through Sunday. ANTHONY SEIGLER — Worcester Woo Sox (Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate; 9th-year pro; Cartersville HS) … after making two appearances, including one start at second base for the MLB Boston Red Sox, Seigler was sent back to the Worcester WooSox on June 9. The 26-year-old played in three games last week for Worcester on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. He went 1-for-9 at the plate with two walks, one sacrifice fly, and one RBI. The WooSox began this week in fourth place with a 33-32 record, eight games behind Rochester in the International League East Division. Worcester is scheduled to play six games at the Lehigh Valley IronPigs from Tuesday through Sunday.

June 14, 2026 Charles Wilson / BartowSportsZone.com Bodie Brumlow was one of only three players to finish under par at the 105th Georgia Amateur Championship at Ocean Forest Golf Club on Sea Island. / Photo: Michael Woodard Cartersville’s Bodie Brumlow, 17, started slowly at the 105th Georgia Amateur Championship this past weekend at Ocean Forest Golf Club on Sea Island, but fired under-par rounds on Saturday and Sunday to finish third and complete the tournament at 1-under par. The Cartersville High School rising senior shot 76 in the opening round last Thursday and carded an even-par 72 on Friday. His weekend charge up the leaderboard included a 71 on Saturday and a final round of 68 on Sunday. He was one of only three players to finish the tournament under par on the challenging par-72, 7,385-yard layout. Evan Rogers, 19, of Duluth, won the championship by eight shots over 22-year-old Carter Loflin — also of Duluth. Rogers, who plays collegiately at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, recorded rounds of 69-69-72-68. Loflin, who played his college golf at the University of Georgia, finished one shot ahead of Brumlow at 2-under par (72-71-71-72). The Georgia Amateur Championship field included 144 players who advanced through qualifying at various sites across the state or held exemptions from previous tournament performances. The field was cut to the low 60 players and ties following 36 holes. R.B. Clyburn and Jake Wehunt, both of Cartersville, earned spots in the tournament field but failed to make the 36-hole cut, which was 10-over par.

June 11, 2026 Charles Wilson / BartowSportsZone.com The Cartersville 12U Gold baseball team won the GRPA District 5 championship on Wednesday night, finishing a delayed title game with an 8-6 victory over Summerville 12U. Cartersville 12U Gold won its first four games in the double-elimination tournament to earn a spot in the championship round that started on Tuesday night at Calhoun Park. Cartersville Gold had wins over Calhoun (20-2), Whitfield County (5-2), Dalton (17-5), and Rome (11-1), before falling to Summerville 6-4 in the first game of the championship round. A winner-take-all championship game started on Tuesday night, but was suspended until Wednesday night for a conclusion. In the title-winning game, Cartersville Gold 12U led 6-2 through three innings, but Summerville knotted the score with two runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth on a home run. Cartersville secured the extra-inning win, however, with two runs in the top of the seventh. Pitchers Shep Taylor and Noah Taylor blanked Summerville in the bottom of the seventh with a fly out and two strikeouts. Cale Effler pitched the first two innings for Cartersville, allowing one run (none earned) on three hits with no walks and four strikeouts. Jackson Taylor (5R, 4ER, 5H, 2BB, 3K) worked three innings on the mound. Shep Taylor struck out four in 1-2/3 innings, allowing no runs, hits, or walks, and Noah Taylor earned a save with a strikeout to finish the game. Tyson Botts (RBI) and Parson Adams (RBI) paced the Cartersville Gold offense with two hits. Blake Adams (double, two RBI), Jackson Taylor (double, RBI), and Noah Taylor each added one hit. Shep Taylor contributed one RBI. Cartersville Gold 12U advanced to the GRPA Class A/B State Traditional Tournament, which will be hosted by Bulloch County Recreation and Parks on June 23-27 at Mill Creek Regional Park in Statesboro. June 11, 2026 Charles Wilson / BartowSportsZone.com The Bartow County 12U softball team completed an undefeated run through the GRPA District 5 Tournament on Thursday night at Edwards Park in Dalton with a 4-0 championship game win over Murray County. Caroline Owen tossed a perfect game in the circle for Bartow and struck out 14 of the 18 batters she faced. The other four outs came on three groundouts and one pop-up. On offense, Bartow scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and added an insurance run in the second inning. Ellie Hardman led the offense with two hits and one RBI. Cayden Sexton (RBI), McKynlee Gunter, and Owen each added one hit. Annaleigh Altizer contributed one RBI in the title game victory. Bartow County finished 4-0 in the seven-team, double-elimination tournament. The locals had previously beaten Rome (16-3), Whitfield County (10-1), and Trion (11-9). Bartow 12U Softball advanced to the GRPA Class A/B State Tournament scheduled for June 23-27 at Edwards Park in Dalton. BARTOW BLUE 10U EARNS GRPA DISTRICT 5 RUNNER-UP FINISH The Bartow County 10U Blue baseball team finished runner-up on Thursday night at the GRPA District 5 Tournament at Alto Park in Rome. Bartow 10U Blue finished the tournament with a 6-2 record, including surviving five straight elimination games, but lost in the championship round to Rockmart Gold, 13-1. Bartow 10U Blue’s tournament run also included wins over Dalton (13-3), Whitfield County (11-2), Calhoun (12-5), Summerville (9-0), Trion (6-2), and Cedartown (6-5). The team’s other loss was to Cedartown (4-3) in the second round. Across Bartow’s final four tournament games on Wednesday and Thursday, Everett Neighbors (two RBI), Rhett Adams (RBI), and Asher Hooper (RBI) had six hits. Grayson Neighbors followed with four hits and two RBI. Jett Thompson produced three hits and one RBI. Benton Owen (four RBI) and Mason Brookshire (three RBI) contributed two hits. Maddox Whittle, Chapman Perry, and Wyatt Huskins each added one hit. Cartersville 12U Gold was leading Summerville 3-0 in the second inning on Tuesday night when the game was suspended. Cartersville 12U Gold went 4-0 to reach the championship round, with wins over Calhoun, Whitfield County, Dalton, and Rome. Cartersville then fell to Summerville in the first championship round game, 6-4. Summerville lost its tournament opener to Dalton last Thursday, but won five-straight elimination games to reach Wednesday’s winner-take-all finale. In last Saturday’s 17-5 win for Cartersville Gold over Dalton, Blake Adams (two RBI), Jackson Taylor (RBI), and Henry Baxter (RBI) led the offense with two hits. Tyson Botts (three RBI), Cale Effler (three RBI), Shep Taylor (RBI), and Brennan Simmer each added one hit. Parson Adams and Raden Sullins had one RBI. Shep Taylor pitched 2-2/3 innings on the mound for Cartersville with five strikeouts. In Monday’s 11-1 win over Rome, Parson Adams had two hits and one RBI. The tournament, which started on Monday, will continue through the championship round on Friday in Rome. Bartow County 10U has wins over Dalton (13-3), Whitfield County (11-2), and Calhoun (12-5). Bartow’s loss was 4-3 to Cedartown. Through their first four games, Maddox Whittle has four hits and two RBI for Bartow 10U. Jett Thompson (RBI), Benton Owen (two RBI), Grayson Neighbors (two RBI), and Everett Neighbors have three hits. Wyatt Huskins (three RBI), Asher Hooper (RBI), and Rhett Adams (three RBI) contributed two hits. Chapman Perry added one hit and one RBI. Adams and Perry each have four strikeouts in 1-2/3 innings on the mound. Gamble Mealor has three strikeouts in 1-2/3 innings. Cartersville Gold 10U finished the tournament with a 2-2 record. Cartersville Gold had wins over Calhoun (7-4) and LaFayette (16-7), with losses to Rockmart Gold (19-2) and Trion (7-6). Tres Taylor (three RBI) and River Hicks (two RBI) led the Cartersville Gold offense with four hits across their four games. Braxton McDaniel (two RBI), Raylon Wright (four RBI), Maddux Frazier (four RBI), and Nate Bell each had three hits. Brantley Dietze and Ben Robinson contributed two hits and one RBI. Aiden Waits added one hit and two RBI. Bell was the top Cartersville pitcher in the tournament with six strikeouts in three innings. CARTERSVILLE 8U COACH-PITCH IN ELIMINATION BRACKET The Cartersville Gold 8U Coach-Pitch team enters play on Wednesday at the GRPA District 5 Tournament at Edwards Park with a 2-1 record. Cartersville has wins over Bartow County (15-0) and Murray County (10-1), with a loss to Summerville (22-13). Cartersville plays Trion on Wednesday night in an elimination game and will need five straight wins to capture the tournament title. Bartow County was eliminated last Friday with a 16-8 loss to Dalton.

With the win, Bartow 12U is one of three teams remaining in the double-elimination tournament that continues through Thursday night. Carolina Owen and Emma Kuykendall combined to pitch a no-hitter in the victory. Owen had eight strikeouts in the first three frames, and Kuykendall struck out two in one inning of work. Owent (double, two RBI) and Saydie Ray had two hits for Bartow 12U. Mckynlee Gunter (triple, two RBI), Harper Fox (RBI), Ellie Hardman (RBI), Annaleigh Altizer (RBI), and Armauni Palacios (RBI) added one hit. Gracie Moon contributed one RBI. Bartow 12U faces Trion on Wednesday night, with the winner advancing to the championship round on Thursday with no losses. The Bartow/Trion loser will need to win three consecutive elimination games to win the tournament. The Bartow County 8U Coach-Pitch Softball Team finished the tournament with losses to Cartersville and Dalton. Barnett struck out seven across the fifth through eighth innings. It was the right-hand pitcher’s second MLB appearance this season. The Athletics began this week with a 31-34 record and in third place in the American League West. Alabama joins Oklahoma, Georgia, and Texas in an All-SEC half of the MCWS bracket in Omaha. The other four-team, double-elimination bracket includes North Carolina, Ole Miss, West Virginia, and Troy.

Cartersville 12U Gold defeated Calhoun 20-2, Whitfield County 5-2, and Dalton 17-5. Noah Taylor led the Cartersville 12U Gold hitters with six hits and four RBIs. Tyson Botts followed with five hits, including two doubles, one triple, and six RBIs. Cale Effler produced four hits, including one double and six RBIs. Jackson Taylor (double, three RBIs), Henry Baxter (RBI), and Brennan Simmer (RBI) had three hits. Raden Sullins contributed two doubles and two RBIs. Hudson Summey and Blake Adams also had two hits and two RBIs. Parson Adams (sac fly, three RBIs) and Shep Taylor (RBI) each added one hit. Effer pitched six innings and had seven strikeouts in the win over Whitfield. Shep Taylor and Summey shared pitching duties against Calhoun. Adams, Jackson Taylor, and Shep Taylor pitched in Cartersville Gold’s win over Dalton. Shep Taylor has six strikeouts in 3-2/3 innings. Summey has fanned three. Cartersville 12U Gold plays Rome on Monday night in Calhoun at 6 p.m., with the winner advancing to the championship round on Tuesday with no losses. The loser will slip to an elimination game on Monday night at 8 p.m. against either Trion or Summerville and will need three straight wins to capture the tournament title. Bartow County 12U won its opening game in the GRPA District 5 Tournament on Friday in Calhoun but was eliminated with two losses on Saturday. Bartow 12U defeated Murray County 11-2, before falling to Rome 10-2 and Summerville 10-1. Aiden Hill went 3-for-3 with three RBIs in the victory. Brody Morrow went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and Cash Burgess was also 2-for-2. Griffin Dobbs collected the pitching win for Bartow 12U, working four innings with six strikeouts. In Saturday’s two losses, Hill was 3-for-6 at the plate. Morrow went 1-for-3 and pitched four innings with one strikeout in the loss to Rome. Burgess struck out four in the loss to Summerville. BARTOW 12U SOFTBALL WINS GRPA TOURNAMENT OPENER Bartow County 12U softball opened play in the seven-team GRPA District 5 Tournament this past Friday with a 16-3 win over Rome at Edwards Park in Dalton. Caroline Owen (3 IP, 2R, 0ER, 3BB, 8K) and Emma Kuykendall (1 IP, 1R, 0H, 1BB, 1K) combined in the pitching circle for the victory. Harper Fox (two RBIs) and Kuykendall (two RBIs) each had two hits for Bartow County. Gracie Moon and McKynlee Gunter each had solo home runs. Cayden Sexton (RBI) provided one hit. Ellie Hardman and Emilyn Sexton each added one RBI. Bartow 12U plays Whitfield County on Monday night. The tournament continues through Thursday in Dalton. SMYRNA BLUE COACH-PITCH TEAM ELIMINATES BARTOW AND CARTERSVILLE The Smyrna Little League Blue 7U team won the Georgia Little League Northwest Section Coach-Pitch Tournament this past weekend in Peachtree City with a win over Bartow County and two wins over Cartersville on Friday and Saturday. Smyrna Blue survived an elimination game against Bartow County, 11-7, on Friday night, and defeated Cartersville 12-5 and 9-3 on Saturday in the championship round to capture the title. Cartersville 7U and Bartow County 7U finished the tournament with 2-2 records. Smyrna Blue finished the double-elimination tournament with a 4-1 mark. Sawyer Arnold led Cartersville 7U hitters in the championship round losses with four hits and two RBIs. Knox Ammons (two RBIs), Barrett Malik (RBI), and Russell Pressley (RBI) each had three hits. Brooks Dooley contributed two hits. Eli Fillers (RBI), JT Menerey (RBI), Myles Banks, Owen Baxter, Kamden Williams, and Hank Harrell each added one hit. In Bartow 7Us Friday night loss, Chase McCoy led the offense with three hits and two RBIs. Jameson Reynolds (RBI), Beckett Best (RBI), and Evan Jacobs each contributed two hits. Rodrigo Catala (RBI), Brynlee Rogers (RBI), Bo Hamby, and Grayson Cagle added one hit each. CARTERSVILLE LITTLE LEAGUE 8U FALLS IN CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND The Cartersville Little League 8U Rookie Division team reached the championship round of the Northwest Section Tournament in Peachtree City, but fell to Smyrna Blue in the finals. After splitting the first two games earlier in the week — a win over Peachtree City and a loss to Smyrna Blue — Cartersville 8U defeated Rockmart 10-9 on Friday night in an elimination game before suffering an 11-5 second loss to Smyrna Blue on Saturday. In Saturday’s games, Sawyer Crowe (two RBIs), Lennox Kellogg (RBI), Owen Hunnicutt (RBI), Gibbs Thomas, and Beau Bamforth each had one hit. Jacob Sadler contributed two RBIs. Toccoa White and Jackson Walker each added one RBI. Sadler (four strikeouts), Brantley Bonner (three strikeouts), and Beckham Mackey (two strikeouts) each pitched 2+ innings for Cartersville 8U in the final two games. CARTERSVILLE LITTLE LEAGUE 9U FINISHES THIRD The Cartersville Little League 9U Sandlot Division baseball team finished third at the Northwest Georgia Section Tournament this past week in Peachtree City. Cartersville 9U went 2-2 in four games at the tournament, with both losses coming against host Peachtree City 9U. Cartersville 9U also had elimination game wins over Bartow County and Smyrna Red. Smyrna Blue defeated Peachtree City in the championship game. In Friday’s 8-6 elimination game loss to Peachtree City, Nolan Menerey pitched five innings and recorded five strikeouts. Menerey also had three hits with two RBIs. Easton Fillers (two RBIs) and Brooks Caverly each had two hits. Corbin Ferguson, Max Brown, AJ Jones, Brooks Poole, and Baylor Foster produced one hit. Beckham Bowden and Colton Hamby each added one RBI.

Cartersville Little League’s 7U coach-pitch, 8U Rookie Division, and 9U Sandlot Division teams are among the final three contenders remaining in their respective divisions. Bartow County Little League’s 7U coach-pitch team also remains in contention when tournament action continues on Friday night. The championship round for each tournament will be on Saturday at Peachtree City Little League. NORTHWEST SECTION 7U COACH-PITCH The Cartersville 7U coach-pitch team has secured a spot in the championship round at Peachtree City Little League and needs just one win on Saturday to advance to the state tournament. Cartersville 7U defeated host Peachtree City on Wednesday, 15-14, and beat Smyrna Blue, 10-7, on Thursday to reach the finals against either Bartow County or Smyrna Blue. Bartow County 7U opened the tournament with a 9-0 Tuesday win over Smyrna Red, but fell 14-3 to Smyrna Blue on Wednesday. Bartow 7U survived an elimination game on Thursday, defeating Smyrna Red 15-13, and will play another elimination game on Friday at 5:30 p.m. against Smyrna Blue. The winner of that elimination game will need two wins over Cartersville on Saturday to win the title. Russell Pressley leads Cartersville 7U hitters through their first two games with six hits and five RBIs. JT Menerey (four RBIs) and Barrett Malik each have five hits. NORTHWEST SECTION 8U ROOKIE DIVISION Cartersville Little League’s 8U Rookie Division team split its first two games, defeating Peachtree City on Tuesday 17-5 before falling 13-12 to Smyrna Blue on Thursday. Cartersville 8U slipped to an elimination round game against Rockmart on Friday at 5:30 p.m. The survivor will need two wins over Smyrna Blue on Saturday in the championship round. In their first two games, Toccoa White led the Cartersville 8U team with three hits, including two doubles and three RBIs. Beckham Mackey, with three RBIs, and Jackson Walker, with an RBI, each had two hits. Sawyer Crowe (three RBIs), Owen Hunnicutt (two RBIs), Gibbs Thomas (RBI), Brantley Bonner (RBI), Beau Bamforth (RBI), James Gregory (triple), and Jacob Sadler each had one hit. Lennox Kellogg drove in one run. On the mound for Cartersville 8U, Mackey (2 IP, 3ER, 1BB, 4K) and Hunnicutt (1.2 IP, 2ER, 2K) pitched in both games. NORTHWEST SECTION 9U SANDLOT DIVISION Cartersville Little League’s 9U Sandlot Division team lost its opening game 5-0 to Peachtree City on Tuesday, but responded with a 14-5 win over Bartow County on Wednesday and a 12-6 victory over Smyrna Red on Thursday to play in another elimination game against Peachtree City on Friday at 5:30 p.m. The Cartersville/Peachtree City winner will advance to Saturday’s championship round against Smyrna Blue and will need two wins to advance to the state tournament. Bartow 9U dropped two straight games, falling 11-8 to Smyrna Red on Tuesday and losing to Cartersville on Wednesday. In three games for Cartersville 9U, Corbin Ferguson has five hits, including one double and two RBIs. AJ Jones has four hits and six RBIs. Max Brown (four RBIs), Easton Fillers (two doubles, two RBIs), Brooks Caverly (double, RBI), Logan Sullins (RBI), Beckham Bowden, and Nolan Menerey each contributed three hits. Brooks Poole (two RBIs) and Colton Hamby have two hits. Baylor Foster (two RBIs) and Jackson Miller (RBI) added one hit apiece. Brown (five strikeouts) and Fillers (one strikeout) have each pitched 3-2/3 innings for Cartersville 9U through the first three games. Grayson Neighbors led the Bartow 9U offense in their two losses with three hits, including one double, one triple, and two RBIs. June 3, 2026 Charles Wilson / BartowSportsZone.com The Georgia Athletic Directors Association has released its final Directors Cup standings for the 2025-26 school year, with Cartersville leading the local schools in the Class AAAA race. Cartersville was the highest ranking school in Region 7-AAAA and finished seventh overall in Class AAAA. Woodland finished 32nd, and Cass was 34th in the classification. Adairsville was not ranked in Class AAA as a non-GADA member. Marist won the overall Directors Cup in Class AAAA with 1,369 points. The War Eagles also won each gender title with 715 points for the boys and 654 for the girls. Cambridge and North Oconee tied for second place, with Westminster and Pace Academy rounding out the top five schools. The Cartersville girls’ programs scored 604 points and were eighth in Class AAAA. The Cartersville boys’ teams scored 508 points for a seventh-place finish. The Woodland girls were 24th with 180 points, and the Cass girls were 39th with 50 points. The Cass boys’ programs finished 24th with 179 points, while Woodland’s boys teams earned 100 points for 36th place. Cartersville had three state championship teams in 2025-26, including Competition Cheerleading, Boys Golf, and Boys Track and Field. Four Cartersville teams earned third-place finishes, including Volleyball, Girls Basketball, Baseball, and Gameday Cheer. Canes football and Fast Pitch Softball finished fifth. Girls’ Golf had an eighth-place finish. Boys Soccer and Girls Tennis finished in ninth place. Other Cartersville teams earning Directors Cup points were Girls Cross Country (11th), Boys Basketball, Girls Soccer, and Boys Tennis (17th place), Boys Cross Country and Boys Swimming (19th place), and Boys Wrestling (29th place). Cartersville won back-to-back Directors Cup titles in Class AA in 2000-01 and 2001-02. Woodland placed third in Region 7-AAAA behind Cartersville and Cedartown. The Wildcats’ programs earning Directors Cup points were Boys Wrestling (state championship), Competition Cheerleading (9th), Girls Cross Country and Girls Soccer (17th), Girls Swimming (22nd), and Girls Track and Field (26th). Cass was fifth in Region 7-AAAA, earning state runner-up points in Boys Wrestling to go with Football (9th place), Fast Pitch Softball and Girls Basketball (17th), and Boys Track and Field (19th). Jefferson won Class AAA, followed by Greater Atlanta Christian, Oconee County, North Hall, and West Laurens. The Directors Cup champions for the other classifications were Buford (6A), Pope (5A), Columbus (2A), Wesleyan (A-DI), and Lake Oconee Academy (A-DII). The Directors Cup has annually awarded the top-performing overall athletic programs in each classification since the 1999-2000 school year, and has identified the top male and top female programs in each classification since 2002-2003. Teams earn points in the Directors Cup standings based on their GHSA final state playoff placement, with points awarded to the top-scoring girls teams in eight sports and the top-scoring boys teams in eight sports.

Cartersville High golfers Bodie Brumlow and Reid Henson led the Purple Hurricanes to a second straight Class AAAA state championship this spring and have now been named All-State golfers in their classification. Brumlow, a rising senior, shot rounds of 65-69 (8-under par) at Savannah Golf Club to win the 2026 Class AAAA individual title. In addition to his All-State honor, the University of Georgia commit was named the 2026 Class AAAA Player of the Year. Henson, a rising junior, posted rounds of 71-72 (1-over par) and tied for second place individually at the state finals in Savannah as the Hurricanes finished 18 shots ahead of North Oconee.

Barnette allowed two earned runs on five hits with no walks and five strikeouts. He has 41 strikeouts in 42-2/3 innings with a 4.64 ERA. Las Vegas won all six games at Tacoma last week to climb to one game behind Sacramento in the Pacific Coast League West. The Aviators (32-23) welcome the Reno Aces for six games this week through Sunday. Logan Martin has battled injury in 2026, but has 31 strikeouts in 29-1/3 innings. LOGAN MARTIN — Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants Double-A affiliate; 4th-year pro; Kentucky; Cartersville HS) … made a relief appearance of 1-1/3 innings last Friday at the Akron RubberDucks, allowing three earned runs on two hits and three walks. He recorded one strikeout. Richmond rallied late for a 4-3 win in extra innings. Martin has appeared in nine games (five starts) and has a 2-0 record. The 24-year-old has 31 strikeouts in 29.1 innings with a 3.99 ERA. The Flying Squirrels (34-16) began the week with a 34-16 record and a 6-1/2 game lead over Harrisburg and Akron in the Eastern League Southwest Division. Anthony Seigler enjoyed a hot bat last week in a series at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Seigler batted .344 in May and lifted his season batting average to .300 with three homers and 21 RBI in 100 official at-bats. Worcester won four of six games last week at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and began this week with a 27-27 record. The Woo Sox host six games through Sunday with the Buffalo Bisons. COLLEGE BASEBALL Caleb Daniel homered and drove in two runs in Game 7 of the NCAA Atlanta Regional. CALEB DANIEL — Georgia Tech (So., Cartersville HS) … hit a go-ahead home run in the top of the fifth inning on Monday that gave the Yellow Jackets a 4-3 lead at the time, and drove in another run in the sixth with an RBI single. However, Oklahoma rallied to tie the game, and the Sooners won 8-7 in the tenth inning to eliminate Georgia Tech in Game 7 of the Atlanta Regional of the NCAA Division I Baseball Championships. Daniel went 2-for-4 as the Tech designated hitter in Game 7 and went 1-for-3 with a run scored in games against Illinois-Chicago and Oklahoma earlier in the tournament. He appeared in 50 games and made 33 starts in 2026, posting a .298 batting average in 131 official at-bats. He had 10 home runs and 29 RBIs. Georgia Tech was ranked in the top three for most of the season and finished the year with an Atlantic Coast Conference title and a 50-11 record. Micah Earwood made a two-inning relief appearance for SEU at the NAIA World Series. MICAH EARWOOD — Southeastern University (Sr., Cartersville HS) … made a two-inning relief appearance for The Fire against Tennessee Wesleyan University on May 29 in an 8-5 loss at the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho. Earwood allowed two unearned runs on three hits with two strikeouts across the sixth and seventh innings. The right-hander finished 2026 with a 3-0 record in 18 relief appearances and had two saves. He had an ERA of 0.86 in 21 innings pitched with 34 strikeouts. He was also a Sun Conference All-Academic selection and a NAIA Daktronic Scholar-Athlete. Southeastern finished 2-2 at the World Series with wins over Johnson University (TN) and Indiana University Southeast before losing to William Carey University (MS) and Tennessee Wesleyan in the double-elimination tournament. The Fire finished 45-18.
