Lady 'Canes host Upson-Lee in Class 4A soccer sweet sixteen

The Cartersville Lady 'Canes soccer team will host Upson-Lee tonight (May 5) in the second round of the 2015 GHSA Class AAAA state playoffs. Cartersville (10-5), the Region 7-AAAA champ, shutout Madison County 7-0 in the opening round. The visiting Lady Knights also advanced with a shutout victory. Upson-Lee went on the road to knock off Cairo in the first round, 1-0. Upson-Lee is the No. 3 seed from Region 2-AAAA, but the region swept all of Region 1-AAAA in the first round. Mary Persons defeated Westover 10-2, Veterans shutout Bainbridge 7-0, and West Laurens got by No. 1 seed Thomas County Central, 5-4.
