Playoffs begin for Georgia Highlands

Coach Mike Marra’s Georgia Highlands baseball club may have started their conference season 0-9, but the Chargers rallied down the stretch to snatch one of the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association’s six playoff spots.

GHC won nine of eleven conference games at the end of the regular season to garner the conference's

sixth seed.

The Chargers open the GCAA tournament Wednesday (May 6) against Georgia Perimeter. The double-elimination tournament is being hosted by top-seeded Darton State College in Albany.

The final playoff spots and seeding were not determined until the final weekend of conference play.

Darton State had secured the regular season title a week ago and takes the #1 seed followed by South Georgia State with the #2 seed. The #3 and #4 seeds are held by Georgia Perimeter and ABAC respectively. West Georgia Tech and Georgia Highlands come in as the #5 and #6 seeds.
