Cartersville Little League 10U Purple takes game one of district series

Drake Carver and Trip Bradley combined on a pitching performance that limited Cartersville Gold to only a single run on three hits as Cartersville 10U Purple won 11-1 in the first game of the Georgia 10U Little League District 1 best-of-three championship series.

Carver tossed the first four innings and struck out four. Bradley pitched a scoreless final inning and with a pair of strikeouts.

Cartersville Purple scored at least one run in all five innings, but a three-run second and a five-run third took control of the game. Purple 10U took advantage of 11 walks in the victory.

Bradley and Carver also led Cartersville Purple at the plate with two hits each. JaKiyon Porter (double), Isaac McNair-Seigler, A.J. Christina, and Will Litton (triple) had the other Cartersville Purple base hits.

Cartersville 10U Gold used three pitchers in Game 1 of the series. Brody Tidwell (2.1 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 2 K), Jack Chatman (4 ER, 5 BB), and Joshua Clay (2 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 3 K) shared the mound duties for Cartersville Gold.

Kaden Stephenson, Tidwell, and Clay had the three Cartersville Gold hits. The two teams meet again Wednesday night (July 1) at 7pm at Rudy York Field in Atco for Game 2 in the best-of-three championship series. The District 1 champion will advance to the Georgia Little League 9/10 state tournament that begins July 11 at Midway Little League in Decatur.
