Cartersville Little League 11U team finishes third at state

Cartersville Little League’s 10/11 tournament team finished third at the Georgia Little League state tournament Thursday night following a 5-2 loss to Oconee County. The state tournament is being hosted by Athens Little League at Doyle Street Park. Cartersville tied the game 1-1 with a run in the top of the second, but Oconee pulled away with two in the fourth and single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Oconee totaled nine hits in the contest. Cartersville had eight.

Cartersville went 2-2 and had state tournament victories over Smyrna Little League (14-4) and Hart County Little League (8-7, 7 inn.). Their losses were to the two teams in the state finals, Northern Little League of Columbus (14-0) and Oconee County.
