Woodland survives late Cass rally, 9-8; Lady Canes drop region game

The Woodland Lady Wildcats built an early lead, then held on for a 9-8 sub-region victory at Cass Tuesday night. Cass rallied after trailing 9-2 and had a potential tying run on third base in the final frame. Woodland centerfielder, Victoria Dabbs, made a running, over-the-shoulder catch for the final out to preserve the win. The Cartersville Lady Hurricanes lost a region softball matchup with Northwest Whitfield Tuesday night, 8-5.

The visiting Lady Bruins scored six runs in the first two innings only to have Cartersville rally to narrow the lead to one. Cartersville scored three times in the bottom of the second and added two more in the sixth to trail 6-5. Northwest added two more runs in the top of the seventh for the final 8-5 margin.
