Local college soccer player updates


Several local collegiate soccer players from local high schools have begun their 2015 seasons:


Duquesne — Cody West, R-Soph., defender (Cass HS) — (in photo) has appeared in two games and started one as the Dukes have started the season 1-3. Duquesne defeated Niagra 3-1, but has losses to Marshall, Oregon State, and Cleveland State. They travel to New York to play at Cornell and Colgate this Thursday and Saturday.


Troy University — Mallory Hedden, Soph. midfielder, (Cass HS) — 2 shots, 1 shot on goal in the Trojans 5-2 start to the 2015 season. Hedden has seen action in 5 of the first 7 games. Troy is at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN Thursday and in Nashville to face Belmont Saturday before Sun Belt Conference play begins the following week.


Agnes Scott — Stephanie Hicks, Sr. forward (Woodland HS) — She has started 3 of 5 games, scored 3 goals, 13 shots taken with 9 shots on goal. The Scotties are 3-2 with back-to-back wins in their last two over Huntingdon and Covenant. Agnes Scott plays at Maryville (TN) and is home against Sewanne this week.


Charleston Southern — Emily Moore, Jr., defender (Woodland HS) — Appeared in the Buccaneers 2-2 tie at Wofford and 1-0 win over Citadel. CSU has started their season 2-1-2. The other victory was over Stetson and the tie was with Elon. They host College of Charleston Friday.
