Beasley gets first NFL sack in Falcons' win over New York Giants

Although the Giants were awarded a first down on a fumble recovery, Vic Beasley, Jr. recorded the first sack of his NFL career in the fourth quarter Sunday against New York. Upon replay, it looked like it may have possibly been a forward pass, but the defense held anyway after the Falcons stopped Rashad Jennings on a third and 2 play.

Years from now, it will always be Beasley, Jr.'s first NFL sack.

Atlanta trailed 20-10 in the fourth quarter, but rallied for a 24-20 win at MetLife Stadium to improve to 2-0 on the season.

New York had a final possession starting at their own 20 with 1:14 remaining, but Beasley and the Falcons’ defense were able to pressure Giants quarterback Eli Manning enough to halt any comeback effort. That pressure included Beasley getting a hit on Manning on a third down play.

Beasley collected five tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble against the Giants.

Through two games, Beasley has been on the field for 49 of the Falcons 74 defensive snaps (66.2%).

The Falcons travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys Sunday at 1pm at AT&T Stadium.

Vic Beasley is an Adairsville native who played at Adairsville High School and was an All-American at Clemson University. This is his rookie NFL season.

Andre Fluellen, who is a member of the Buffalo Bills, played at Cartersville High School and Florida State University. He is in his seventh NFL season.
