Local college football player update for October 3

Updates on local collegiate athletes currently participating in college football.

Georgia — Collin Barber (Sr., Cartersville HS) 10 punts for a 42 yard average in 38-10 loss to Alabama…. had a long punt of 55 yards, one punt inside the 20, two punts for touchbacks, and had one punt blocked and returned for a touchdown.

Georgia State University — Tarris Batiste (Sr., Cass HS) had 17 tackles in a 41-33 loss to Liberty at the Georgia Dome.

Furman University — Justin Floyd (R-Sr., Cartersville HS) Starter at LG for the Paladins who defeated South Carolina State 17-3 for their third straight win. Furman improved to 3-2. Furman totaled 221 yards of offense including 134 yards rushing. Furman plays at Chattanooga next Saturday.

UNC Charlotte — T.L. Ford (So., Cartersville HS) started at WR, was targeted three times, and caught 1 pass for 10 yards in the 49ers 37-3 loss to Temple.

UNC Charlotte — Mark Quattlebaum (R-Fr., Cartersville HS) saw action as a punt returner vs. Temple…. made a fair catch on a punt in the second quarter.

Air Force — Hayes Linn (Jr., Cartersville HS) Started at free safety for the Falcons in a 33-11 loss at Navy…. had 3 tackles… Air Force is 2-2….. plays at home vs. Wyoming Sat. night.

Birmingham Southern — Jamar Posey (Jr., Woodland HS) saw action in the Panthers 28-14 loss to Chicago. It was BSU’s second straight loss.

Maryville College — RB Chaz Rokins (So., Cass HS) had 10 carries for 58 yards that included a 17-yard run as the Scots beat Methodist 29-23 and remained unbeaten at 4-0.

Maryville College — CB Da’Kelin Wells (So., Cass HS) Started at cornerback. 5 tackles in Scots’ 29-23 victory over Methodist.

Cornell — Twan Terrell (Sr. Woodland HS) …. started at outside linebacker and recorded three tackles for the Big Red in a 28-21 loss to Colgate University.

Tusculum — Brandon Thompson (DB, R-Jr. Woodland HS) saw action in a 20-0 shutout of Brevard.

Tusculum — Quadre Allen (R-Fr.)…. saw action on special teams and had one tackle in 20-0 win over Brevard (NC)….Tusculum is now 2-3.
