Updated local high school football region standings

The top-ranked and undefeated Cartersville Purple Hurricanes remain at the top of the standings in Region 7AAAA through the games of October 9. Meanwhile, the Adairsville Tigers solidified their hold on the No. 2 spot in Region 6AAA with a 48-0 shutout victory at Murray County. With the Cass Colonels' 24-3 loss to Sequoyah, they must now win out and get some help to sneak into the Region 7AAAAA playoff games. The Colonels are idle October 16, but have games remaining at River Ridge and Rome. Cass will need wins in both of those games plus either a Dalton loss or a pair of Sequoyah losses to reach a meaningful region crossover game during the regular season's final week. The top three teams from each subregion qualify for region playoff games November 6. All the other teams also play crossover games on that date, but only the top three have an opportunity to advance to the state playoffs. Woodland fell to 1-5 and 1-2 in subregion action following a home 42-17 loss to Creekview.
