CROSS COUNTRY

Jaison Morning (photo) — Valdosta State University (Fr., Cass HS) .. ran 21st overall and second on his team (27:18.90) at the D2 Georgia Collegiate Championship 8K. The Blazers finished fourth as a team in the 11-team field that included 87 runners. Savannah Hardin — Young Harris College (Fr., Cass HS) … ran 28th overall (26:15.40) of 77 runners at the D2 Georgia Collegiate Championship 6K. Young Harris finished second behind Columbus State in a 10-team field. Roger Herrera — Reinhardt University (Jr., Cartersville HS) … ran 93rd overall (27:44.50) and was the top runner on his team at the Disney Cross Country Classic… The Eagles finished 19th as a team in the Scar Division that included 25 teams and over 250 runners.



VOLLEYBALL

Katie O’Connor — Western Carolina (MB, Soph., Cartersville HS) … 4 kills, 2 digs, 5 blocks in a 3-1 loss to Mercer Oct. 9…. 1 kill and 2 blocks in a 3-0 loss at Samford. The Lady Catamounts are now 7-15 over and 1-5 in the Southern Conference.

Karlee Winecoff — Point University (OH/MH, Junior, Cass HS) … 5 kills, 4 digs, 1 block in a three set loss to Union (KY) College Oct. 10 … The Lady Skyhawks also lost to Bluefield (VA) College Oct. 9 in four sets, but no stats were available from that match. Point fell to 3-12 overall and 2-11 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

Sydney Sumners — Shorter University (DS, Freshman, Adairsville HS) Saw action in one set and recorded one dig vs. Mississippi College as the Lady Hawks won in straight sets, 3-0. Shorter improved to 9-4 overall and 7-3 in the Gulf South Conference.

SOCCER

Mallory Hedden — Troy University — (Midfielder, Sophomore, Cass HS) … played 22 minutes in the Lady Trojans 4-1 win over Texas State Oct. 9…. played 10 minutes in Troy’s 3-0 victory over Appalachian State. The Lady Trojans improved to 11-3 overall and 4-1 in the Sunbelt Conference.

Stephanie Hicks — Agnes Scott — (Forward, Senior, Woodland HS) …. was a starter in a 1-0 loss to Salem College Oct. 10 …. has taken 19 shots and scored 4 goals on the season…. Agnes Scott is now 4-8 on the season.

Emily Moore — Charleston Southern — (Defender, Junior, Woodland HS) …. took two shots including one on goal in a 2-1 victory over Francis Marion Oct. 10 …. The Lady Bucs also suffered a 1-0 loss at UNC Asheville Oct. 7.. CSU is now 4-5-2 overall and 1-3 in the Big South Conference.

Cody West — Duquesne — (Defender, R-Sophomore, Cass HS) …. played all 107 minutes in a 3-2 OT victory at La Salle Oct. 7…. started, played 78 minutes, and took one shot in a home 2-1 loss to Fordham Oct. 10..... the Dukes are now 3-7-1 overall, 1-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
