Excel wraps up regular season with win over North Cobb Christian; awaits state playoff seeding


Excel Christian Academy softball defeated North Cobb Christian Friday afternoon 12-2 in five innings to conclude regular season play.


The Lady Eagles now await the final GHSA Class A Private School Power Ratings to determine their state playoff seeding. The final ratings will be released Tuesday.


Excel scored 11 runs over the first three innings to take a commanding lead over visiting North Cobb Christian.


Taylor Gibson started in the circle and tossed two shutout innings before giving way to freshman, Haley Owens. Owens closed out the final three frames. Brighton McCollum, Rachel Parrott, and Hannah Cauthen had two hits each to lead the Lady Eagles’ attack. McCollum scored three runs. Parrott scored twice and Cauthen had 3 RBI.


Whitney Harris, Aliza Baker, and Taylor Gibson added one hit each. Harris and Baker scored three runs each. Gibson also scored a run.


The Lady Eagles finished regular season play 15-11 overall and 14-6 in Region 6A.
