Cass wrestling team finishes third at state tournament

The Cass Colonels’ wrestling team avenged their state quarterfinals, one-point loss to Clarke Central Saturday afternoon by defeating the Gladiators 50-15 to capture third place at the GHSA Class AAAAA State Wrestling Team Duals. In the championship bracket Friday, Cass lost 29-28 to Clarke Central and had to win four straight matches Friday and Saturday to finish third in the state.

The Colonels finished 5-1 at the state tournament, with wins over Dunwoody, Heritage-Conyers, Starr’s Mill, Allatoona, and Clarke Central.

Meanwhile, Woodland has reached the state championship match for a sixth consecutive year. The Wildcats will look to knock off defending state champion, Camden County, in the finals. Woodland lost the state championship match to Camden last season. Woodland and Camden County meet for the Class AAAAA state championship Saturday at 3pm.
