Cartersville baseball recognized by Georgia Dugout Club

We just rang in the new year, but the 2016 high school baseball season is not too far away. With six returning starters from a team that made the state semifinals in 2015, the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes baseball team will begin the new season ranked No. 2 in Class AAAA by the Georgia Dugout Club.

Senior and Auburn commit, Elliott Anderson, and sophomore Anthony Seigler were named to the GDC pre-season All-State roster in Class AAAA. Teammates Carrington Evans and Devin Warner were recognized as pre-season All-State honorable mentions.

The Canes will host Cherokee in a scrimmage to begin their 2016 campaign Friday, Feb. 12 and have home games against Lambert (Feb. 24), Johns Creek (Feb. 27), and Parkview (Mar. 1) to open the regular season.

Cartersville will play Coosa on Saturday, March 5 at the home of the Rome Braves, State Mutual Park, in Rome and then participate in the Perfect Game High School Showdown at LakePoint in Emerson March 10-12. Road games at Collins Hill and Mill Creek follow before the Canes' Region 7-AAAA slate begins March 22 at Gilmer.
