BCRD 8U youth basketball boys, 10U girls play for district titles Tuesday; 12U boys advance to semif

Two Bartow County Recreation Department youth basketball teams have advanced to GRPA District 5 championship games Tuesday night and a third team will play in a semifinal game. The Bartow 8U Blue team and the Bartow 10U girls have reached their tournament finals. The 12U Bartow Blue team has reached the semifinals of their tournament.

8U BOYS 8U Bartow County Blue defeated Whitfield County Monday night at Manning Mill Park, 28-24. Tyrek Hames led Bartow with 12 points. Jarrett Scott scored seven, followed by Jakez Baldwin with five. Casen Cochran and Isaiah Livsey added two points each for Bartow. Bartow Blue plays South Cobb Tuesday at 7pm in the finals. Cobb defeated Dalton in the semifinals Monday night.

10U GIRLS

10U Bartow girls def. Rome #1, 36-27 Monday night at the Whitfield Co. Recreation Department Gym. Mikaela Jackson scored 10 points for Bartow County. She was followed in scoring by Campbell Rogers eight, Naxyria Roberts seven, Julia Shinholster six, Lea Brasington two, Kailynn Mullinax two, and Brigid Njoroge one point.

In the other semifinal, Rome #2 beat Dalton, 23-8, also Monday night.

The District 5 finals are Tuesday night, 6:15pm, at Whitfield Co. Recreation Department.

10U BOYS

10U Bartow Blue defeated Rome #1 Monday night, 46-32.

Jakaden Barkley was high scorer for Bartow Blue with 13 points. Jaylen Scott scored seven, Nic Kennedy six, Ramarion Pace six, Kymoni Pullum six, Mashon Pharis five, and Jayden Foster three for Bartow.

Bartow Blue will play South Cobb #2 in the District 5 semifinals Tuesday night at 6:30pm at the Houston Suggs Youth Center at Hamilton Crossing Park.

In other action Monday night: 12U Cartersville boys lost 46-40 to Whitfield County in the District 5 semifinals Monday night at New Hope Middle School in Dalton. Whitfield plays Tuesday in the finals Tuesday night against Rome #1. Rome routed Powder Springs in the other semifinal Monday, 62-33.
