Mosby named GCAA all-region first team; GCAA men's basketball tourney this week

The Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Men’s Basketball Championship gets under way this week, starting at school sites for the opening round. The tournament begins Thursday (Mar 3) and will then move to one location for the final four semifinals and championship game (Mar 6-7).

Georgia Highlands College (29-1), currently ranked number two in the nation in the latest NJCAA poll, is the tournament’s top seed. The Chargers host the winner of a play-in game between Albany Tech CC and East Georgia CC. The play-in game is Monday night. GHC faces the winner Thursday.

Chattahoochee Tech CC (21-9), with former Cartersville standouts Ryan Davis, A.J. Mosby, and Corey Tobin in the lineup, is the tournament's number four seed. The Golden Eagles host Atlanta Metro CC (15-15) Thursday in the first round.

Mosby was recently named to the GCAA men's basketball first team all-region team. Davis was named an honorable mention all-region member.

The other tournament quarterfinals — also Thursday — include Gordon College at Central Georgia Tech CC and South Georgia Tech at South Georgia State CC.

The semifinals are Sunday, March 6 and will be hosted by the highest remaining seed among the opening round winners.

The championship game will be at that same site on March 7.
