Cartersville falls to second-ranked Parkview, 3-2

The Canes managed more hits than Parkview Wednesday night at Richard Bell Field, but came up on the short side of the scoring as the visiting Panthers edged Cartersville, 3-2.

Cartersville took an early lead in the bottom of the first on a single by Devin Warner that scored Parker Tidwell.

Parkview scored twice in the top of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead, but the Canes responded with a tying run in the bottom of the frame.

With two outs, Trevor Lowe reached on an infield error, moved up on a wild pitch, and eventually scored on a single by Anthony Seigler.

Parkview (1-2) scored the game winning run in the top of the fifth when Will Etheridge singled home Allan Del Castillo.

Panthers’ senior right hand pitcher, Corey Whitlock, picked up the win for Parkview in relief. Whitlock pitched 2 and 2/3 innings and allowed no runs. Caleb Mitchell went four innings and allowed a pair of earned runs in his start for Parkview. Mitchell struck out seven and walked two. Starter, Elliott Anderson, pitched the first four innings for Cartersville. Anderson yielded two earned runs on two hits and five walks. He struck out six Parkview batters.
