Canes shutout Coosa, 7-0

In a game that was scoreless for the first four innings, the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes struck for three runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth inning to take control and defeat the Coosa Eagles, 7-0, at State Mutual Stadium in Rome Saturday.
The Canes took the lead in the fifth inning, scoring three runs on a pair of doubles by Trevor Lowe and Anthony Seigler. Parker Tidwell added an RBI single in the frame.
Jacob Fowler singled home a run in the sixth inning and Seigler added a two-run triple as Cartersville took a 6-0 lead.
In the seventh, the Canes added an insurance run. Elliott Anderson singled and moved to second on an infield error. John Reed Evans entered as a courtesy runner for Anderson and was driven home on a single by Noah Daniel.
Zach Yancey had a strong three inning outing on the mound for the Canes. Yancey allowed just one hit, no earned runs, walked one, and struck out one.

Mason Barnett was the winning pitcher for Cartersville. Barnett worked two shutout innings. He struck out three, walked one, and allowed one hit.
Fowler (1 IP, 2K), Chet Taylor (0.2 IP, 1BB, 1K), and Harrison Osborne (0.1 IP, 1K) also made pitching appearances for the Hurricanes.
Seigler led the Canes’ offense with a pair of extra base hits, a run scored, and three RBI. Anderson had two hits.
Cartersville (1-3) is scheduled to face Montevarde Academy (FL) Thursday, March 10 at LakePoint. First pitch is set for 3:45pm.
