GHC softball drops DH to East Georgia; Womack has four-hit day


The Georgia Highlands softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday to GCAA conference foe, East Georgia State CC. East Georgia won by scores of 5-3 and 8-2.


Former Cass standout, Lauren Womack was 2-for-3 in Game 1 for the Chargers and drove in one run. Brianna Fickes and Caitlin Parks also had two hits each. Former Woodland standouts, Mallory Jackson and Ashley Jordan, along with Andria Booth had the other hits for GHC in the opener.


In Game 2, the Chargers led 2-0 early, but East Georgia scored three in the fifth inning and four more in the seventh to come-from-behind in the late innings.


Reign Wilcher had three hits and four RBI to lead East Georgia. Myranda Hand also had a three hit performance with a pair of RBI.


Womack was 2-for-3 again for Georgia Highlands. Brianna Fickes also had a pair of hits and drove in a run. Madison Gianfala, Carlee Thurmond, Booth, and Parks had the other GHC hits.


Georgia Highlands (11-21 overall, 1-3 in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association) will host Southern Union State CC Wednesday. The Chargers return to conference play next Saturday (Mar 12) at Abraham Baldwin CC.
