Cass bats silenced in loss to Griffin

A pair of Griffin pitchers combined to toss a no-hitter Tuesday night as the Bears defeated the Cass Colonels at LakePoint Park in Emerson, 11-1.

Kyle Turner (4 IP, 0H, 0R, 4K, 2BB) and Terry Fuller (2 IP, 1R, 2K, 2BB) kept the Cass hitters off stride, walked four, and struck out six for victory.

Griffin took a 5-0 lead through two innings, added two more in the fifth, and four in the sixth on eight hits.

Although the Colonels were held hitless, two walks, an infield error, and a passed ball led to a Cass run in the bottom of the fifth.

Cody Johnson (2 IP, 5H, 5ER, 2BB) started on the mound for the Colonels and took the pitching loss. Austin Pruett (3 IP, 1H, 2ER, 3K, 1BB), Steven Spell (0.1 IP, 2H, 3ER, 2BB), and Jordan Reed (0.2 IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB) also pitched in the loss.

Griffin improved to 7-1 with the non-region win.

Cass (3-3) plays North Oconee Wednesday at LakePoint in Emerson. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30pm.
