Davis comes up big for Lady Canes; Collum's hat trick leads Adairsville


Emily Collum scored a hat trick to lead the undefeated Adairsville Lady Tigers to victory and Cartersville's Chloe Davis scored one goal in regulation and converted on a PK kick after regulation as both local girls' soccer teams won important region games Tuesday night. ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 6, LFO 0 The Adairsville Lady Tigers shutout Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 6-0 on the road Tuesday night behind three goals by Emily Collum.


Collum put Adairsville ahead 3-0 at halftime with goals in the 10th minute (assist from Kaitlyn Webster), 21st minute (assist by Aimee Pacheco), and 28th minute (assist from Hannah Worley).


In the second half, Mac Stehenson scored in the 44th minute off a corner kick from Katie Lawhorn to make the score 4-0.


Pacheco scored in the 58th minute for a 5-0 lead and Haley Pittman scored a goal in the 62nd minute for the Lady Tigers.


Adairsville (7-0 overall, 1-0 in Region 6AAA) hosts Coahulla Creek on Thursday at 5:30pm.




CARTERSVILLE GIRLS 2, SOUTHEAST WHITFIELD 1


The Lady Canes went to overtime and penalty kicks Tuesday night before an outcome was reached, but Cartersville escaped with an important 2-1 Region 7-AAAA victory.


Chloe Davis scored the Lady Canes’ goal in regulation off an assist from Marissa Mowry in the game’s 50th minute, but Southeast tied it with a goal in the waining minutes of regulation.


With PKs knotted at 2-2, Davis converted to give the Lady Canes a 3-2 advantage on PKs and Cartersville keeper Abby Robinson stopped a pair of attempts to secure the region win.


Cartersville (5-1 overall, 2-0 in 7-AAAA) hosts Pickens Friday (March 11) at 5:30pm.
