Woodland track wins quad meet

The Woodland Wildcats track team participated in a four-way meet Tuesday night (March 8) against Darlington, Chattooga, and Mount Paran Christian. The Woodland boys placed 1st overall in the meet. The Lady Cats were second behind host Darlington.
First place finishers for the Wildcats included Jamai Smith in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.83 seconds. Kevin Miller placed first in the triple jump with a jump of 38 feet 11 inches, he also placed first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 53.50 seconds, Julian Rockett was first in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet 9 inches. Rockett also placed first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:03. Dustin Kiel was first in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:14. Jonathan Holloway placed first in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:10, and the 4 by 400 meter relay team won the event with a time of 3:34.

First place finishers for the Lady Cats included Madison Bennett in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.44 seconds. Chaila Reliford was first in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.50 seconds. Karson Norris won the pole vault with a vault of 7 feet. Avery Mayweather was first in the shot put with a throw of 29 feet 4 inches. Skylar Chappell placed first in the discus with a throw of 80 feet 10 inches, and the Lady Wildcats' 4 by 100 meter relay team won with a time of 52.40.
Woodland will compete in the Dalton Rotary Invitational this Saturday. (March 12)
