Tigers' bats support Seaman's complete game effort


The Adairsville Tigers' offense supported a complete game pitching effort by Sam Seaman Friday night by pounding out 11 hits and scoring 16 runs in a 16-5 Region 6-AAA win at Sonoraville.


Seaman (7 IP, 5R, 3ER, 6H, 3BB, 7K) stayed around the strike zone all night tossing 82 of his pitches for strikes in a 125-pitch effort.


Adairsville scored three runs in the top of the second to take an early lead, but the Phoenix responded with two runs in the bottom of the second and two more in the fourth to take a temporary 4-3 lead.


The Tigers answered with four runs in the top half of the fifth to regain their lead for good, 7-4.


After Sonoraville narrowed the margin to 7-5 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Adairsville scored three times in the sixth and six runs in the seventh inning to seal the victory.


Starting pitcher, Easton Gallman (5 IP, 7R, 5ER, 9H, 2BB, 1K) was tagged with the pitching loss for the Phoenix. Ryan Goss (1.1 IP, 9R, 8ER, 1H, 7BB) and Grant Hegwood (0.2 IP, 0R, 1H, 1BB) combined to close out the game on the mound for Sonoraville.


Drake Arp was 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBI to lead the Tigers’ offense. He also reached base with a walk, was hit by a pitch, and scored three runs.


Seaman had a pair of doubles in a 2-for-3 performance. He scored a run and drove in three.


Landon Howren, Hunter Hice, Hayden Morrow, Orry Carter, Kyler Pelfrey, and Taylor Whitley had one hit each for the Tigers.


Adairsville (6-4 overall, 3-1 Region 6-AAA) has a home game Tuesday (March 22) with Riggold, the current region leader. The Tigers also play Hamburg HS (Hamburg, NY) at LakePoint Park in Emerson Thursday at 6:30pm before traveling to Gordon Central on Friday (March 25).
