GHC softball splits DH with South Georgia


Georgia Highlands softball split a doubleheader with South Georgia State, losing 4-0 in the opener and winning 4-2 in the second game.


Rebecca Meade allowed only one earned run on six hits in a complete game effort in the opener, but was saddled with the loss. She struck out five.


Meade earned a save in Game 2 in relief of Natalie Pederson. She allowed no hits and struck out two in 2 and 1/3 innings of work.


Pederson picked up her first conference win of the year with her 5 and 2/3 inning effort. She scattered eight hits and yielded no earned runs.


Caitlin Parks was 4-for-7 in the doubleheader. Lauren Womack was 3-for-7 and scored a run. Carlee Thurmond contributed a pair of RBI and scored a run in Game 2. Bre Fickes and Mallory Jackson drove in runs. Madison Gianfala and Kaleigh Mobly scored the other Chargers’ runs.


GHC is back in action Tuesday against Motlow State in a doubleheader in McMinnville, TN. First pitch is set for 1pm. The Chargers also travel to USC Salkehatchie Thursday for a doubleheader.
