Early runs edge Adairsville

Ringgold pitcher Devin Lancaster tossed a complete game, three-hitter, and Ringgold’s offense scored three runs early to defeat Adairsville Tuesday night, 3-1, in a Region 6-AAA battle of two different Tigers teams at Adairsville.

Ringgold (9-4 overall, 4-0 in 6-AAA) took a 3-0 lead after two innings and Lancaster’s pitching performance made the lead stand up, allowing only one, sixth inning run while striking out a dozen and allowing no walks.

Tyler Nichols hit a two-run homer in the first inning to give Ringgold a 2-0 lead. Andre Tarver singled and later scored after an infield error and a passed ball to make the score 3-0.

Adairsville also received outstanding pitching from Kyler Pelfrey and Noah O’Kelley.

Pelfrey (5 IP, 3R, 2ER, 4H, 1BB, 6K) suffered the pitching loss. O’Kelley (2 IP, 0R, 1H, 1BB, 4K) worked two scoreless innings.

Lane Griffith’s RBI double in the sixth inning drove home Landon Howren for Adairsville’s run.

Sam Seaman had Adairsville’s only other hit. It was a double in the second inning.

Adairsville (6-5, 3-2) will face Hamburg High School (Hamburg, NY) Thursday at 6:30pm at LakePoint in Emerson and makes the short trip to Gordon Central Friday for a 5:55pm start.
