Colonels win at River Ridge

Cass salvaged the final game of a three game series with River Ridge Friday night with a 4-2 win in Woodstock.

The Colonels scored four runs in the top of the second and held on for the Sub-Region 7-AAAAA-A victory.

Bailey Campbell had three RBI on a pair of hits for Cass. He singled in the first and tripled in the second inning.

Jake Collum pitched a complete game, allowing no earned runs, six hits, and four walks. Collum struck out five Knights.

River Ridge (10-7, 7-5 in 7-AAAAA-A) scored a single run in the fifth inning and one more in the seventh, but Collum struck out two in the final frame and got a fly ball out to end the Knights’ late threat in the seventh.

Casey Patterson, Jordan Reed, and Jake Collum all singled to load the bases for the Colonels in the second. After two strikeouts, Brett Gaddy coaxed an RBI walk to give Cass a 1-0 lead. Campbell then delivered a two-out, bases clearing triple to right field that made the score 4-0.

Steven Spell was 2-for-4 for the Colonels and Patterson finished with two hits.
