Canes make short work of LaFayette


The Canes put eight runs on the board through the first two innings Monday afternoon at LaFayette on their way to capturing a 12-0 Region 7-AAAA win in five innings.


Cartersville used a quartet of pitchers to shutout the Ramblers on only two hits.


Jacob Fowler (2 IP, 1H, 1BB, 2K), Carrington Evans (1 IP, 1H, 0BB, 1K), Spencer Dickey (1 IP, 1BB, 1K), and Chet Taylor (1 IP, 0H, 0BB) each saw time on the mound.


Devin Warner went 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in three runs. All three of his hits were doubles.


Spencer Dickey had two hits and one RBI. Zach Yancey (3 RBI), Parker Roberson (2 RBI), Parker Tidwell (RBI), Elliott Anderson (RBI), and Evans (RBI) had the other Cartersville hits.


Evans and Tidwell both stole a base.


With the loss, LaFayette falls to 7-10 overall, 1-6 in Region 7-AAAA.


Cartersville (10-7, 6-1 in 7-AAAA) is scheduled to host Central of Phenix City, AL Wednesday in a non-region game at Richard Bell Field in Atco. The Canes continue a busy Spring Break week of games by entertaining Gilmer on Thursday and they travel to Northwest Whitfield on Friday.
