Canes move into second round

The Cartersville boys tennis team advanced to the second round of the Class AAAA state playoffs Wednesday afternoon at Dellinger Park with a 3-1 win over Chamblee.

SINGLES

1 — Matthew Slocum won 6-2, 6-1

2 — Davis Edwards (match incomplete)

3 — Will Allen won 6-0, 6-1

DOUBLES

1 — Russell Mathison / Ross Norwood lost 6-2, 6-2

2 — Ivy Nelson / Juan Zazueta won 7-6 (7-2), 6-1

The Canes will host Perry in the second round Monday at 4:15pm

The Lady Canes, who won earlier in the week, will host Mary Persons on Monday in the second round.
