Lady Canes golf team advances to state sectional

The Cartersville High School girls golf team shot 293 Tuesday to finish second at the Region 7-AAAA tournament and qualify for the GHSA Class AAAA sectionals.

Kaylee Cornelius shot 95 to lead Cartersville and finish as region medalist runner-up. Jayla Cornelius and Marion Munistari fired a 99 for the Lady Canes. Lindsey Bonner came in with a 105.

The region tournament was held at Indian Trace Golf Club in Chatsworth. The Lady Canes finished eight shots behind region winner, Pickens.

The state sectional tournament is set for May 2 at Chestatee Golf Club in Dawsonville.

The Cartersville boys placed seventh at the region tournament.
