Cartersville Little League 11/12 team wins GRPA District 5 championship

The Cartersville Little League 11/12B team captured the GRPA District 5 championship Tuesday night with a 4-3 victory over Calhoun at Westside Park in Whitfield County.

The district title advances Cartersville to the 2016 Georgia Recreation and Parks Association state tournament in Savannah July 12-16.

Cartersville won four straight games to win the nine-team, double-elimination tournament. The locals had wins over Haralson County, 12-8, Calhoun, 10-3, and Milford, 9-4, to reach the championship round.
