English leads Hamilton Golf Academy players at PGA Championship

2016 PGA Championship

Jimmy Walker took the first round lead Thursday by firing a five under par 65 at The 2016 PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey.

Walker holds a one shot lead over Emiliano Grillo, Ross Fisher, and Martin Kaymer as golf's final major championship of the year completes its opening round.

Four current players affiliated with Cartersville Country Club's Scott Hamilton Golf Academy are in the field, with Harris English only two shots back after an opening round 67. Russell Henley is tied for ninth with a 2-under par 68. Aaron Baddeley shot even par and is tied for 36th, while Chris Kirk will have some work to do Friday following a 4-over 74.

Two former SHGA players, Acworth's Jason Bohn and Kevin Kisner, each shot 1-over par 71s on Thursday and are tied for 55th. The 70 low scores and ties will make the 36-hole cut following Friday's second round.
