Paulding early lead enough to defeat Lady Colonels

Cass softball

Paulding County scored eight runs in the first two innings at Cass Thursday night and that was enough for an eventual 10-2, five-inning Region 7-AAAAA victory.

Cass scored two runs of their own in the bottom of the first to narrow the visiting Lady Patriots’ lead to 7-2, but that would be as close as they would come.

Paulding (2-2, 2-1 in region play) scored two more runs in the top of the fifth for the eight run advantage.

Abbie Crawford, Macey Jauregui, and Abbie Dorrough combined for five hits and three RBIs to lead the Lady Patriots offense.

Cass managed only four hits. Sierrah Gani, Hope Elrod, Arianna Mustin (2 RBI), and Mae Mae McIntyre had the Lady Colonels’ hits. Taylor Queen contributed to the offense with a sacrifice.

Cass (1-4, 0-3) hosts Fannin County Saturday at Stars Field in Cassville and will host region foe Hiram on campus next Tuesday at 5:55pm.
