Lady Canes volleyball wins pair of matches Saturday at Cherokee

Cartersville High School’s volleyball team swept three straight sets to defeat Marietta and won a tight, four-set match with Cherokee High School Saturday.


The Lady Canes defeated Marietta, 25-21, 25-12, and 25-19.


Leaders for Cartersville in the win over Marietta: Lauren Wenzell with ten kills and three digs; Catie Heilman with eight kills and two aces; Anna Mathis with five digs and 13 service receptions; and Kameron Hendrix with 27 assists.


Cartersville edged Cherokee 25-22, 20-25, 26-24, 25-20.


In the four sets with Cherokee, Rebekah Stevens had 13 kills and three digs; Catie Heilman finished with13 kills, six digs, and two assists; Grace Hunter had seven kills, two blocks, and four aces; Lauren Wenzell contributed six kills, two blocks, four digs, and nine aces; Nedu Evans added five kills and three blocks; Anna Mathis had four assists and 19 digs; and Kameron Hendrix finished with one kill, two blocks, eight digs, and 40 assists.


The Lady Canes host Rome and Sonoraville Thursday starting at 5pm.
