Adairsville softball edged at Sonoraville

The Adairsville softball team lost a region game at Sonoraville Thursday evening, 3-2, on a walk-off hit by the Lady Phoenix in the bottom of the seventh.


Harleigh Chastain walked to open Sonoraville’s final frame before Sandra Beth Pritchett reached on an infield hit. Griffin Holden, who drove in all three Lady Phoenix runs in the game, bounced a single into right field to score Chastain for the late, one-run win.


Adairsville led 2-0 on a Emily Collum two-run homer in the top of the third. Cortni Jacobs had singled in front of the blast.


Sonoraville tied the contest in the bottom of the fifth inning when Holden drove in her first two runs with a bases loaded single. The Lady Phoenix loaded the bases with a walk, an infield error, and a hit by pitch.


Adairsville out hit Sonoraville six to five.


Havyn Isaac, Bailey Robinson, Loren Harris, and Natalie Burrow also had hits for the Lady Tigers.


With the win, Sonoraville improved to 9-7 overall and 6-2 in region play.


Adairsville (6-7, 3-4 in Region 6-AAA) plays at Calhoun Tuesday.
