Lady Cats run strong at Carrollton; Canes' place two in top ten at Winder-Barrow meet

The Woodland girls cross country team, recently ranked nationally, placed second at the Carrollton Orthopedic Invitational hosted by Carrollton High School on the Georgia High School Association state meet course Saturday.
The Woodland girls were running in the Girls Championship race which included all the top teams in the event regardless of classification. There were also races for schools in Class A-through AAA, Class AAAA and AAAAA; plus a Class AAAAAA and AAAAAAA race.
There were 26 teams in the Girls Championship race with over 220 runners.
The Lady Cats, competing without lineup regulars Cheyenne Spinks and Casey Bolan, finished 25 points behind North Gwinnett. Westminster placed third, followed by Hart County and St. Pius X to round out the top five teams.

The Woodland boys were 23rd of 29 boys teams in the Carrollton Orthopedic Invitational Boys Championship race Saturday on the GHSA state meet course.
Clarkston won the meet. The Angoras were 75 points ahead of Westminster. Union Grove placed third, followed by North Oconee and Hewitt-Trussville (AL).
