Cass drops first two games at tourney
The Cass softball team lost a shootout with Murray County 15-10 and fell to Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 9-5 in their two games at the SCORE International Tournament Friday night.
Sierrah Gani and Sarah Fox both had three hits in the game with Murray County, including a triple each with three RBIs apiece. Arianna Mustin, Savannah Lynch, and Brittnee Mayer also contributed two hits each for Cass. Hope Elrod, Sarah Moore, Alexia Najarro, and Mae Mae McIntyre added one hit each.
Moore (3.1 IP, 13R, 4ER, 8H, 3BB) and Haley Owens (1.2 IP, 2ER, 4H, 0BB) pitched against Murray County.
In the loss to LFO, Cass fell behind 7-0 before narrowing the lead to 7-5 in the bottom of the second inning. That would be as close as the Lady Colonels would get however.
Elrod, Fox, Mustin, and Kalia Carson had the only Cass hits. Gani finished with two RBIs. Fox and Mustin also drove in a run.
Owens (3 IP, 8R, 7ER, 7H, 3BB, 1K) and Mustin (2 IP, 1ER, 1H, 2BB) pitched for Cass.
The Lady Colonels (5-15) will play Dalton and Southeast Whitfield at the SCORE International Tournament Saturday.
