Lady Canes volleyball splits road Area 5-AAAA matches

Cartersville volleyball split a pair of Area 5-AAAA matches Tuesday night at Sandy Creek in Tyrone.

The Lady Canes defeated LaGrange in a tough three-set match 25-13, 25-27, 25-11, but lost to the host Patriots of Sandy Creek in straight sets, 25-17, 25-17.



Standout players for the Canes in the win over LaGrange included: Lauren Wenzell with 1 kill, 1 block, and 5 aces; Catie Heilman with 10 kills, 1 block, 2 digs, and 5 aces; Grace Hunter with 6 kills, 2 blocks, and 2 aces; Rebekah Stevens with 6 kills, 1 dig, and 6 aces; Anna Mathis with 8 digs; and Kameron Hendrix with 25 assists, 3 digs, and 3 aces.


Standouts for the Lady Canes in the loss to Sandy Creek included: Rebekah Stevens with 3 kills; Catie Heilman with 6 kills, 5 digs, and 1 ace; Anna Mathis with 7 digs and 19 service receptions; and Kameron Hendrix with 10 assists and 1 ace.


Cartersville, now 19-14 overall and 4-2 in Area 5-AAAA, travels to Pope Thursday to play the host Lady Greyhounds and Walker. They will also play in the Bartow County Championships Saturday at Woodland.
